Relax & Recharge by The River

Tucked away on the secluded banks of the Goulburn River, the River Cottage and its surroundings exude a natural beauty that begs to be explored - do it on your own time and completely on foot. The River Cottage is situated in an almost 'to-good-to-be-true' location for exploring as well as relaxation.

The cottage itself is a pleasure enjoy. Most of our time here was spent relaxing on the verandah with a drink and a book, appreciating the sounds of the birds and river or enjoying a meal from the local farm produce.

The lifestyle that the property offers is superb. This place is guaranteed to reward you for getting up for sunrise - whatever the weather. Even if you only make it out onto the verandah with a cuppa and wrap yourself up in a blanket. When you're ready, prepare yourself some breakfast out there too.

After breakfast, take a long bushwalk straight from the front door of the cottage - follow the river upstream into the Goulburn River National Park and through its spectacular sandstone gorges. Follow it up with an equally long soak in the tub back at the cottage.

To be honest, our afternoons were spent a lot like our mornings - enjoying the serenity this place offers up in spades.

One of the best aspects of the River Cottage is that there's no reason to leave. That said - be sure to stop in at one of many charming nearby country towns on your way in or out.

Leave the car behind! There is truly great bushwalking to be done from the front door of the cottage. Our favourite was walking up the river to The Drip (be sure to wear shoes you don't mind getting wet)....

By far the best thing to do while here is to just relax at the cottage itself. Read a book, enjoy a beverage or two by the fire and be sure to have a long bath....
