Feeling the Spirit of the Rainforest

Spirit of the Rainforest was the perfect place to disconnect with day to day life and reconnect with nature. With so much to do on the property as well as in nearby towns, we had the perfect balance of exploration and relaxation. Evenings were spent with a local wine by the fire and mornings with a cup of coffee and a stroll around the property. During the day we could choose from staying in to read a book or visit the locals (aka horses, birds and puppies) or we could take a 25min drive to the nearby Nambucca Heads for a day by the water. Needless to say, we did both and would recommend the same to all future visitors!

SOTR and the surrounding area was hit hard by the bushfires last year, and we got to hear first-hand stories of what it was like to fight off the fire and to restart the regeneration of the property. So walking through the property was made even more special seeing where the fire had ravaged as well as the incredible growth and progress that has already been made. It's clear that SOTR are focussed on staying connected to the land and the local wildlife. You can see this in the details from the local treats and fresh damper left for us on arrival to the amazing Aboriginal artwork and decor, including remnants from the fires that each have a story.

We stoked the fire up on Sunset Hill, cracked open some local beer and wine and enjoyed each others company while nestled in the mountains....

Bowraville isn't big by any means, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in character. It has the classic old NSW town feel with, that I really love.

I've driven past Nambucca Heads everytime I've been down south, however this time I thought we'd pop in and see what all the fuss is about. We ate lunch at the Nambucca Boatshed & Cafe - where we demolished fish & chips by the gorgeous Nambucca River.

We took a walk into one of many paddocks on the property where five beautiful horses live and play. We became good friends with the locals as they followed us around the paddock and up to the huge fig tree....
