Soak up the Stars

Hidden away and sitting super pretty on the hillside over 80 acres of pristine surf coast countryside. 1.5 hours from Melbourne and 20 minutes from Aireys Inlet, The Wensley is completely private and worlds away from big city living. We savoured some of the finest family time with our son that you can get. Over 3 days we explored the property, fired up the bbq for sunset on the deck, roasting marshmallows over the campfire, ate pancakes for breakfast and soaked up the stars from no less than a dozen baths both inside and out.
Everything about this epic bespoke timber structure has been so well considered to take advantage of the almost 360-degree views over Cape Otway National Park. It can easily handle any weather the coast could throw at it, and it also accommodated our adventurous tiny human perfectly. With effortless access to The Great Ocean Road and everything the surf coast has to offer, this is the kind of accomodation that feels like home from the moment you step through the door making it hard to find a reason to leave, ever.

With over 80 acres to explore, the property backs on to Cape Otway national park. We spent hours hiking through the valley with our son. I recommend packing your boots as the terrain is easy but will vary with the weather.

From the car park of Split Point Lighthouse, we walked approximately 500 metres east of the lighthouse to the stairs that zig-zag down the tall sandstone cliffs to Step Beach. At the end of the protected bay stands Castle Rock below the lighthouse. In low tide, you can explore the many caves dotted along the cliffs.

Birregurra is a tiny little town packed with hidden gems. It's only a 15-minute drive from the property and home to one of the best gluten-free bakeries in Victoria. We picked up a couple of super tasty, fresh-baked chicken pesto paninis, coffees and a few supplies to test drive the local Penny Royal Berry Farm Jam we picked up on the drive down.
