When the opportunity to spend a weekend in gunning came up, I could think of no better excuse to take the parents on a little staycation. In a gorgeous small country town, located under an hour from the nation's capital, Gunning is a beautiful location, with HOLD Cottage being an even more special part of this town.
Belinda and Tim have put so much into this gorgeous little cottage, to make anyone feel at home. Whether it’s a weekend getaway with a loved one or friends, or a staycation away from the city, Gunning is a beautiful place to press pause.

Located just a short drive from Gunning, between Canberra and Goulburn, Some Cafe in Collector is a favourite stop for a brew on the road. Their gorgeous selection of baked goodies, delicious coffee and friendly staff make for the perfect marriage for a country cafe.
HOLD Cottage hosts a range of workshops at their cottage. For our stay, we were lucky enough to take part in the Tansy & Twine workshops, creating gorgeous products out of essential oils.
Just a few streets away from the cottage, take a drink and some nibbles and watch a train go by Gunning Station. Check the NSW Transport website for timetables!
30 minutes toward Canberra, Tallagandra Hill is a small winery specialising in beautiful local wines, produce from around the region and a new live music venue.
On the main street of Gunning, you'll find this quaint little cafe, The Merino. Make sure to shout you're staying at HOLD Cottage and they will look after you!
