Adventure in Bindera, Hunter Valley, NSW, AU
Far from the bustling city and phone lines – watching the sunset from the deck as you hear the river flow below is a sure way to reset your mind. Riverview Cottage is hidden away from sight – a private and quiet space to host over nine people comfortably.
The abode itself is a warm place to come home to after a day of adventures around Barrington Tops. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, a kayaking session on the white-water rapids will sure keep you feeling electric the rest of the day, or just have a swim at the river a few minutes’ walks away.
A well-stocked kitchen means a home-cooked meal and natural wines overlooking a picturesque view is a breeze. The perfect place to go off-grid, reconnect and create new memories.

Things We Did
- Kayak
- Hike
- Swim
This is no regular kayaking. If you're in the mood to have a visceral experience with nature you can hire out kayaks to head out on the white water rapids on Barrington River from local adventure companies. Don't worry there are various route levels from Beginner to Advanced and you'll be trained in how to recover after a capsize (a very common occurrence). Great for a group activity.
Various hikes around the Gloucester Tops picnic area are a great day activity. The Antarctic Beech Forest walking track will take you through ancient Gondwana rainforests which tower above you. You can also find a nice spot for a picnic and swim by Gloucester Falls.
A few minutes walk down from The Steps campground and cottage, the river is the perfect place for a dip. The shady riverbank is a perfect place to dry off and have a picnic lunch.
