Weekend at Jack's
Adventure in Somerville, Mornington Peninsula, VIC, AU
A cosy cottage ripped straight from a fairytale in a faraway land. Jack Cottage oozes character and warmth, and you immediately feel at home. Upon entering, you instantly appreciate the care and love that have gone into creating this lovely abode.
Freshly picked roses and plants greet you inside. A fully equipped kitchen with quality tableware is begging you to cook. Decorated with vintage wares that help create the vibe of yesteryear. Homemade floral sprays for your pillow and luxurious linen ensure a great nights rest.
We quickly slipped into this way of life and spent the weekend reading, and dinners spent on the deck overlooking the perfectly manicured gardens as the birds chirped was enjoyed each night. The cottage is surrounded by native eucalypts and ten jacaranda trees ready to grow. Our son loved his very own big boy bed, and we enjoyed the time alone with a drink on the front porch in the last of the summer warmth.
Situated on the underrated eastern side of the Mornington Peninsula makes it very easy to explore the east and south. We ate fresh mussels down by Flinders Pier and swam at the nearby ocean beach. Whilst our lovely host's Jo and Rob, suggested the pretty Montalto winery the next day. A weekend at Jack's amongst the trees is just what the soul needs.

Things We Did
- Takeaway
- Beach
- Winery
Only 30 minutes from Jack Cottage is the beautiful Flinders. We ate some yummy, freshly cooked mussels on the beach. Take your pick of mussels with Laksa or Napoli sauce from Harry's Mussels, right near Flinders Pier.
After filling up on mussel's, we headed down to Flinders Ocean Beach. We spent the afternoon relaxing amongst the rockpools of the Mushroom Reef Sanctuary and impressive Flinders coastline whilst hang gliders soared above.
Upon the recommendation of our host Jo we visited the Montalto Winery in Red Hill. Just 20 minutes away, Montalto is nicely perched on the hill overlooking the grapevine and marvellous gardens. We sat outside for a couple of wines and lunch whilst the little fella could explore the space and gardens.
