Hounds and Howqua Hills
Adventure in Mansfield, High Country, VIC, AU
We used Fig Tree House as our base for a trip to visit Mansfield, Mt Buller and Howqua Hills with its pristine alpine rivers, wild bushland, and some early season snow.
Fig Tree is a beautiful 70s house with plenty of room for multiple families and dogs, with doors and halls dividing the house into private sections. While the fireplace was warm and cozy, we found ourselves convening at the kitchen table with its bench seat and large windows. The yoga room was the perfect addition to unwind and was also well received by bub who loved to play on the beanbags.
We visited Mount Buller (minus the dogs) to see some snow but spent a good amount of time exploring Sheepyard Flat and the Howqua Hills area. There's great fishing, hiking, camping and swimming (in warmer weather) and the dogs can come along for the adventure there. The Mullum Wetlands are also a short walk to the end of the street for walking the dogs.
Fig Tree is the perfect place for bringing a big group of friends or family on an alpine adventure, giving you all privacy whilst having great communal areas to come together after an action-packed day.

Plenty of places for hiking, walking, fishing, swimming and exploring: all with the dogs in tow!
Skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing or just walking in the white wilderness. Mt Buller is about a 45 minute drive from the house to the carpark. No dogs without a permit.
THE BEST bacon and egg rolls, plus local produce, coffee, wines and more. We went there both mornings for takeaway breakkie.
