Farmstay on the Ridge
Adventure in Yarragon South, Gippsland, VIC, AU
Not far from the outskirts of the sprawling hills of Melbourne, up winding roads with endless views, you'll find The Ridge House. Here, Kristy and Neil have converted their old family home into a spectacular retreat - perfect for the stay-in getaway.
With room enough for the whole extended family, The Ridge House feels like a real country home - with modern styling and extensive goodies available. Every single detail has been thoroughly thought-out, from the food provided to the pantry of goodies for purchase and a very well stocked and stylish minibar.
The rolling hills and distant views can be enjoyed right from the deck, or a very short walk to Loggers Lookout is the best spot for an afternoon glass of wine and pizza from the nearby Hotel. Wallabies will greet you in the morning and all manner of birds sing happily all day in this tranquil setting.
A real highlight was our farm visit. A guided walk through the property and over the neighbouring hill took us to Kristy and Neil's Green Hills Farm - a working family farm where they are both growing produce from the land and at the same time working to regenerate it back to its native ecosystem. The kids were able to hold chooks, browse through the veggie patches and learn a little about the area and the importance of creating balance with the land.
At the house we enjoyed family games, relaxing together and taking a big, slow breath of the country air....
