A Hidden Gem at the End of the Lane

We followed the Horans Lane up until the very end to discover this little gem. A lovely red-roofed cottage surrounded by a lushed 32 hectares backyard to wander around.

We met with John, a welcoming host who told us the whole history of the cottage. This cottage was built in 1914 when Mr Roberts married Miss Horan and later extended to welcome their five children. When Peter bought the property in 1973, he renovated and enlarged the cottage but left some historic pieces such as the main bedroom and the fireplace used as a kitchen at the time.

The pouring rain did not stop us from enjoying this wonderful place. We boiled a nice hot tea, admired the rain dropping on the leaves from the nook bay window bench, soaked in a warm bubbly bath and read some books with our little one. We wandered around the property, its flora, fauna, and its nursery.

On the next day, the sun shined again and after having some sweet treats at Enniskillen Orchard, we went exploring the Blue Mountains. We walked behind the curtain of cascading water of Horseshoe Falls, plunged into the cool water of the jellybean pool, and marvelled at the sunset at the Avoca Vale Lookout.

After all those explorations, we enjoyed coming back to our little cottage to cook a lovely dinner with fresh food from the great food Richmond Market. Our trip finished with a family breakfast on the porch admiring the golden sun rays and the floral treasures whilst planning our future trip here.
