Escaping the Blues
Adventure in Neerim South, Gippsland, VIC, AU
After a long week of work in the city, we desperately needed to relax and unwind. The luxury Vivere Retreat helped us do just that.
We arrived at sunset to countryside views, with cows in the paddock and kangaroos skipping by. Greeted by our wonderful host Julie, who bought us freshly made scones with jam, we instantly felt disconnected from the crazy corporate world. Kicking off our shoes and changing into luxe robes provided by the hosts, we cracked open a bottle of red and enjoyed the serenity. Vivere Retreat is a luxury studio nestled in the hills of Neerim, a small country town 1.5 hours from Melbourne. The modern studio features high timber ceilings, marble benchtops, a rain shower, and a pod bath with views of surrounding mountains. It's the perfect setting for a romantic getaway with your loved one.
There are so many activities to do both on and off the property. We took a morning walk with our coffee in hand down to the bottom paddocks to visit the cows and kangaroos. On our way back up to the studio, we stopped by the resident chooks and collected some delicious eggs for our breakfast.
After a slow morning at the studio, we hit the road and drove further into the country to begin our adventures. We took a short walk at Glen Nayook Rainforest to stay cool and out of the sun. The 1.5km loop trail follows the Tarago River to a fern gully, where the river runs underground. After we finished our walk, we headed out to Toorongo & Amphitheatre Waterfalls for a hike and swim. These breathtaking falls are ones not to be missed. Although the hike was challenging at times, the view of the magnificent falls was well worth it.
To cap off our adventures, we dined at the famous Noojee Hotel, which came highly recommended by our host. If you enjoy traditional pub food and a cold beer, this is the place to be! On our last night at the studio, we cooked up a storm in the kitchen and ate our food on the deck of Vivere for a final sunset over the countryside. With a glass of wine in hand and a warm bubble bath to match, it was the perfect way to finish off our adventure-filled day.
A weekend at Vivere Retreat was exactly what we needed to unplug from the 9-5 grind. The Vivere Retreat will be your new best friend if you're looking for a luxurious escape close to Melbourne.
