Surrounded by tree ferns and towering mountain ash, the cottage is nestled in Doongalla State Forest, surrounded by nature and wildlife.

Just minutes walking distance to both Olinda and Mt Dandenong villages, where you find cafes, eateries and artisan boutiques, you are close to everything yet away from it all.

The cottage is stand-alone, private, and completely self-contained, with everything you need to stay for a few days, a week, or a month.

Walk into the forest from your doorstep and enjoy many bushwalks through the state forest. We provide maps for you during your stay and are happy to share our fave local walks with you ⛰️🌳

Your stay includes a generous breakfast hamper of goodies, including local fresh produce, and we check in with you before your stay regarding dietary requirements.

COTTAGE DETAILS
Enter your private cottage with enchanting story book style exterior and modern, elegant interior. The living area has a large sofa to sink into by the cosy log fire, where you can curl up to watch a movie, listen to music, read a book or just to BE.

Adjoining is the cosy country kitchen which is fully equipped, everything you need including a dishwasher, washing machine and dryer so you can stay for a few days, a week or a month.

Upstairs the romantic bedroom has a queen size bed, electric blanket, beautiful bamboo and cotton sheets and beautiful forest balcony from which you can enjoy tree top views with glimpses of Melbourne city, glorious sunsets and star gaze at night through the telescope. The adjoining bathroom has a large spa bath, fluffy robes and towels.

This was the perfect get away for me and my husband. Between the views from the bedroom balcony with your morning coffee or and afternoon wine with the sunset, then to curl up in the lovely decorated ...living room with the fire place going and a movie playing.
The cottage was perfect, Pia the owner had great communication, also supplied breakfast and accommodated my allergies 😊
I highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a homely getaway.

A beautiful villa with all stuff styled and in good condition. The fireplace works perfectly easy to manage, additional wall heaters kept the house warm even in the cold weather. The owner was so nice... having for us some special food knowing we were vegetarians. The place is perfect for a couple who want to just relax and spend some in tranquil atmosphere. Highly recommend and will definitely come again. Thank you!

Wild Orchid Olinda is a beautiful cottage with charm, amongst the trees, a calm and peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature. Pia and Tim, the hosts, have created a beautiful space for anyone to enjoy....

Breakfast was also included that was really appreciated. The location is ideal and walking distance to cafe's and restaurants.
We highly recommend staying here for your next getaway.

Hello! I love to retreat and have quiet time in nature. I believe it is important it is to be surrounded by beautiful things and keep this in mind whilst creating a space for my guests. I have a Scandinavian background so you might see elements of that in the cottage. I am a free spirit yet I love having my feet on the ground and need nature around me. Hence the reason I have chosen to live in The Dandenong Ranges surrounded by the forest and tree ferns where we have our beautiful cottage, it is just the perfect place to retreat, relax and recharge. Living in Australia is incredible as there is so much here to see and do, I love adventure and to experience new places, especially riding my motorcycle and getting away as often as possible, searching for places to stay that are unique and magic. Wild Orchid Olinda is a little bit of magic in the mountains I hope to host a stay for you soon :-)

With a craving for wood-fired pizza, Dudleys, located in Olinda village came through for us! With tasty takeaway pizzas in hand to enjoy back at the lodge we accidentally on purpose stopped in at Only Mine next door to pick up some artisanal chocolate. Highly recommend their Honeycomb + dark chocolate block. Yum!

Rhododendron Gardens

Walking around the gardens where we soaked in (while also physically getting soaked) its picturesque beauty, coloured by a rich array of autumn hues that painted the scenery so perfectly. Every corner we turned felt like it belonged in an oil painting.

Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens

Particularly around spring-time, these gardens are the perfect place to get lost among a sea of colours

Enjoy a cuppa next to the fire or side on the deck of the beautiful Olinda Tea House. The menu was a bit pricey at first glance, however there are some delicious noodle and rice dishes towards the back if you're not trying to break the bank.
