Recently refurbished, delightful country cottage on a working sheep and beef farm located 12kms from Waipukurau. Paratu Cottage is in a very quiet location with the option of strolling over the farm for the more energetic. Basic pantry items are supplied in the cottage AND a Nespresso coffee machine.
Winter Heating- There is a log burner in the cottage that will heat the whole house. There is also plenty of firewood on hand to keep it going for you, for colder weather.
The whole cottage is yours for your entire stay.
We will also have a bottle of wine and a couple of beers for you in the fridge. There is also a container of cereal and milk supplied if you don't quite get to the supermarket on your way through.
Please note that bedroom two has two king single beds with trundles (one a pop up and the other a pull out) under each bed. If you wish to use the trundle beds they will need to be pulled out and placed elsewhere in the cottage. There is also a double pull out sofa in the lounge. Although this is a double bed it would suit only ONE adult or two small children.
The space caters easily for 4-6 people, however if you wish to have 7 or 8 people this can be arranged, you will be quite cosy though.

We had a great time staying at Paratu Farm, it was such a peaceful place to chill for a couple of days and our kids loved all the animals - especially the donkeys!
Jo was an excellent host and made us feel at home. Thank you for a lovely stay!

After spending many years in the Waikato region, Jo & Richard made the move to Central Hawkes Bay and purchased Paratu Farm late in 2016. It is located a short distance, 12 kms, from the rural town of Waipukurau.
Paratu Cottage, built in the 1930’s, needed a tidy up as it had been abandoned for a number of years. With a lot of time and effort it has been restored to its current homely state.
Paratu Farm is a 340 ha sheep and cattle fattening property. From the top of the farm you get expansive, 360 degree, stunning views of the Ruahine Ranges to Te Mata Peak and surrounding farmland.
Jo & Richard have three adult children and one very cute 10mth old granddaughter. Their youngest is nursing and living in rural Gisborne.
Their middle son is a 50% shareholder in Paratu Farm and lives in Melbourne where he is a very successful jockey.
Their oldest son lives nearby on their 900 acre lease block and is in rural real estate and has had great success so far.
All three children were secondary schooled in Hawke's Bay where they were weekly boarders.
