There is parking provided on site.

Carl’s Hut is situated in a working vineyard farm. Guests are asked to stay within the fenced area of Carl’s Hut for their safety and bio security purposes. Please do not walk amongst the vines without permission. Strictly no driving around the vineyard without consent.

There is a $30 fee for each allocated batch of firewood used (there will be a batch next to the inside fireplace and a batch for the outside fire pit upon arrival). Please see guest notes upon arrival for payment details.

No pets or children.

No weddings, pre-wedding preparation and parties or group events or gathering are permitted without written consent.

No commercial or professional shoots, editorial shoots or elopements with-out written consent from the hosts.

There is a minimum $750 charge if any of the above takes place.

Carl's Hut is on the grounds of Solitude Estate in Yellingbo, a peaceful township in the upper Yarra Valley, with panoramic views of the Great Dividing Range and Dandenongs. It is also home to the rare and endangered helmeted honey-eater, significant nature conservation reserves as well as berry, olive and livestock farms.

Carl’s Hut is the perfect romantic getaway. The accommodation itself is welcoming, luxurious, elegant and comfortable. Host Susan thought out every detail to ensure we had the most relaxing and enjoya...ble stay. We loved watching the clouds roll over the vineyard, exploring local rainforests, hearing the rain on the roof and the crackle of the fire. We can’t wait to come back again.

Kirth Kiln Regional Park

Hiking, biking & horseback riding at a peaceful nature park that houses an historic kiln during World War II. Sign boards tell the story. A water wheel and stream flowing over bedrock are interesting features. Native forests and wildlife.

Shiprock Falls

Shiprock Falls starts as stream exiting a cleft in the rock face. It cascades over massive granite boulders. A viewing platform allows a safe glimpse of the falls. For the able bodied a track down to the creek reveals bright greens of the moss covered boulders.

Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trail

The trail (10m from B&B) follows Puffing Billy line and links Gembrook to Cockatoo and Emerald. Bikes can be taken one way on the Puffing Billy train; or tailor your ride to suit your fitness. Views of farmland and forests.

The Independent

An Argentinian restaurant in Gembrook recommended by our hosts Chris and Barry. The food, wine and service was next to none and really closed our trip with a great sense of fulfilment along with some full bellies.

Gembrook Bushland Park

Gembrook Bushland Park is a forest walk that allows you to see towering Mountain Ash and lush tree ferns. Look for wildlife including lyrebird living together with wombats, wallaby, echidna, possums and range of native birds. (10 minutes walk from B&B and about 5km return)

Relax and refuel at the bright and friendly Nancy's of the Valley in Yarra Junction. The menu has a wide range of options that cater to different dietary requirements with local ingredients and locally roasted coffee.
