Bathtubs and Birdcall
Adventure in Warburton, Yarra Valley, VIC, AU
Surrounded by lush tall forests of mountain ash and adjoining the grandeur of Mount Donna Buang, the little town of 'Warby' rests beside the upper reaches of the Yarra River. Winding up a quiet country road from its waters we landed in a little pocket of serenity; tree ferns and eucalypts cocooning the cosy cedar cottage we'd call home for the weekend.
Slumping down into the huge couch overlooking the garden we exhaled the week before us and made plans for local wood-fired pizza delivery for dinner. Board games and books aplenty invited us to rest and reconnect beside the log fire - but first: bath tubs - and that's plural for a reason!
Beyond fruit trees and the thoughtfully designed outdoor fire area, there's a gorgeous little haven for relaxation waiting for you to jump right in. Not one but TWO deep baths ready to be filled with fresh hot water, as you fill your own cup simply being in this space. The birds sing throughout the nearby forest and a gentle babbling is heard from the natural creek below. As daylight fades the festoon lights glow and this private little spa retreat amidst nature becomes even more magical.
Our only visitors were beautiful King Parrots, Kookaburras, and Rosella, friendly folk who set the perfect soundtrack for a peaceful getaway. Soaking in the ease of just being there we found little reason to leave this stay, however, the nearby Redwood Forest and cute cafes of Warburton called our names; popping out for a spot of adventure was so easy when we were based in the heart of it all. When in Warburton, do as Warby folk do - relax, rediscover, rest, and repeat!
