We had the most wonderful stay at Carinya. It felt like a tranquil escape up in the hills. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda, watching the birds and cows go by their day. The cabin itself was clean and modern, and had everything we needed. We would love to go back one day.

Hey there, I'm Annie. This farm land has been a part of my family for over two decades, and it's been a true labor of love for my parents who have transformed 30 acres of farmland into a beautiful rainforest to restore the natural wildlife on the property.
In the last couple of years, we've built some amazing villas on the property, and I'm thrilled to help manage them for our guests. Carinya is a special place for me and my family - I've spent countless holidays here, and even tied the knot on the hill near my parents' house a few years back.
There's nothing quite like watching the sunset over the hills in the evening from Carinya - it's truly my happy place. I can't wait to share this little slice of paradise with you and make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible.

Explore The Farm
We were picked up in a little farm cadet and taken on an unforgettable tour of Carinya’s working farm. We met the cattle, checked out the vintage equipment and spotted wallabies hiding in the bush while native birds flew overhead. The whole property was alive with wildlife and incredible views stretching across the hinterland to the ocean. Such a beautiful and unique way to experience the land
Bird Watching
Birdwatching at Carinya is truly special. The peaceful retreat sits among trees planted by the family years ago, now grown into a thriving habitat that attracts an incredible variety of native birds. From yellow-tailed black cockatoos and blue-faced honeyeaters to kookaburras and bright lorikeets, the property is alive with colour and birdsong. It’s the perfect place to slow down, wander, and take in the beauty of nature all around you.

Gin Tasting At Cape Byron Distillery
Visit the Cellar Door for a gin tasting or go on their Rainforest and Distillery Tour. Definitely try their slow gin with local botanicals.
The Farm
We'd been told that The Farm at Byron was a must-see, so we decided to check it out on our last day before we drove home. We were both so glad we did! The place is beautiful and has so much to do and see.
The Farm’s fields are home to heritage-breed pigs, heritage Scottish Highland cattle and chickens, all of which roam freely and are used for meat and eggs in the on-site restaurant, cafe and produce store.
We had brunch in the Three Blue Ducks restaurant and then strolled around the farm afterwards patting all the animals. A must-do for animal lovers, as well as food fanatics.

Three Blue Ducks At The Farm
If you're someone who enjoys basking in paradise, then this restaurant/cafe/nursury/farm is for you. Expect locally grown produce, outstanding food and lovely staff, surrounded by a gorgeous farm - you'll see pigs, horses, banana trees, chooks, herb beds, the lot! We enjoyed the chef's selection at the Three Blue Ducks for 2 for lunch, and were speechless after tasting the 12 hour slow cooked brisket (and freshly shucked oysters with finger lime). Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Suffolk Bakery
Just a couple of minutes from some of the best beaches in Suffolk Park and Broken Head, the Suffolk Bakery is a must-visit on your way back to The Vale.
Zentvelds Coffee
We heard from a few locals that if you're after good coffee, Zentveld's is the place to go. Of course, we enjoyed coffee - but also chocolate roasted coffee beans, cakes, brownies - they even sell homemade soap, sourcing their coffee beans from their very own plantation. At Zentveld's you can undertake a tour of the gorgeous plantation and learn about the growing and production process, all the way from seed to cup. Or, you can explore the plantation fields yourself and see all the beautiful coffee beans growing.
