Murrindindi River Hike
Murrindindi River is a 11.4km, grade 3 One Way hike located in Murrindindi Scenic Reserve Victoria. The hike should take approximately 3hrs to complete. The Murrindindi River hike starts and finishes at the Suspension bridge or the Cascades picnic area. This hike follows the Murrindindi River valley and extends the entire length of the Reserve. The trail crosses over five footbridges and offers river views through a variety of forest types from tall open forest to damp ferny gullies. The route is clearly signposted and accessible from most of the picnic and camping areas.
Wilhelmina Falls Hike
We hiked 6.3km (return) to Wilhelmina Falls. This hike provided us with some fun: a bit of rock scrambling, chain holding, fallen trees to walk on as well as a breath-taking view of the 75-metre tall waterfall. The whole walk has a great view of the surrounding mountain ranges.

Wilhelmina Falls
The Wilhelmina Falls hike (6.3km) starts and finishes at Water Gauge suspension bridge located at the Water Gauge camping site. By following the Murrindindi River Walk in a northern direction you will arrive at the junction of Wilhelmina Falls Track. Here the track climbs gradually to the base of the falls, which flow all year round. These spectacular falls drop 75 metres down a steep granite rock face.
Hiking At Murrindindi Scenic Reserve
A short but challenging hike through bushland to Wilhelmina Falls, a 75m cascading waterfall with incredible views across the reserve.
Mushroom Hunting In The Rain
Despite the cold and wet weather we decided we needed to get out into nature, so a waterfall hike sounded like the perfect idea. The walk to the falls was a short slippery descent to an absolutely raging torrent, not surprising given the rainfall. What did surprise us though was the multiple different types of mushrooms growing alongside the track! Florescent blue, deep reds, even purple stemmed mushrooms! Next time we'll have to bring a mushroom book to identify the different types, and make a pasta...
Kalatha Giant Tree Walk
The Kalatha Giant has survived several major fires in its lifetime. Take a relaxed walk along the boardwalk to learn more about the forest ecosystem and the gigantic trees within. The Kalatha Giant is located at Kalatha Creek in the Toolangi State Forest and is approximately 65 metres tall.
