Additional Information

MUDBRICK COTTAGE DETAILS
A cosy retreat for couples, bike riders, bush walkers and nature lovers. The 4 acre property is off grid, with power coming from the sun, and water from the rain. If the sun has not been out much, you may hear the hum of the generator powering up the batteries for a short time.

Heating is via a wood heater, which will be set and ready to light when the weather cools, and ample fire wood available to you. A fan is available for cooling in the summer. Please note, due to being off grid, electric cars are unable to be charged on the property.

The bedroom is a truly restful space, with an amazingly comfortable queen bed, perfect for tucking yourself in for an early night, or for a lazy breakfast in bed.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with a gas oven and stovetop, bar fridge with freezer, pots and pans, kettle, toaster and coffee machine, everything you need for a foodie's weekend away! Continental breakfast is provided, so you can start your day off with a relaxing breakfast in bed, or perhaps in the garden and enjoy our fresh mountain air.

A blue tooth speaker is provided, so bring your tunes along! The cottage does not have a television or wifi, but trust us, you will enjoy unplugging. Don't worry though, mobile coverage is pretty good, so you can stay connected if need be.

The garden has a variety of herbs growing for your use. The brand new deck has a Weber barbecue ready for you to cook up a storm.

We had a fantastic 2 night stay at the Mudbrick Cottage. The location was perfect for riding at the mountain bike park and it was such a cosy place to come back to in the afternoon to warm up and rela...x after a day on the trails. The cottage had everything we needed and the breakfast supplies and wide selection of teas were such a thoughtful touch. We really loved our time here and would definitely recommend!

Such a cute little cottage in a beautiful part of Victoria! We had the cosiest couple of days away despite the rain and wind. The cottage had everything we needed and the breakfast and tea selection w...as a lovely touch. The fireplace was definitely needed as it does get chilly in there - an electric blanket or hot water bottle for the bedroom would have been great!

We had such a great time at the Mudbrick Cottage! The house is exactly as depicted, if not better. It was cosy in the evenings with the fire going and waking up to fresh eggs and chickens in the garde...n was everything you want in a country get away. The surrounds are beautiful and if you aren't in a hurry, there is a bushwalk through the rainforest that takes you into town (fair warning, it's a bit steep on the way back!). Warburton itself is lovely and we had a great time sampling local wines, checking out the vintage shop and getting a curry. Finally, Wayne and Victoria were great hosts. We rode from Lilydale and underestimated how tricky it would be to get to the cottage from the rail trail. They pointed us in the right direction, helping us set up a lift back down the hill on our way home with their friend Sam from Warburton Adventure Co.

Lilydale Warburton Rail Trail

One of the most iconic trails in the country, the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail travels from the Dandenong Ranges through to the Great Dividing Ranges. Stretching 38 kilometres, the trail is perfect for keen cyclists looking to explore the region. With grades varying from easy to moderate and relatively good conditions, those planning to take the journey will be treated to spectacular views throughout the duration.

Yarra River Walk

After breakfast we stretched our legs with an incredible little walk from Mr Oak, down to the water along some of the freshest sections of the Yarra River. From bridge to bridge at either end of Warburton is a 2.5km path that passes right by the centre of town should you need any supplies.

Warburton River Walk

The easy 5.3-km loop trail walk in Warburton runs along the river with ferns, redwoods, ducks and bridges - an incredible nature walk in the middle of town.
La La Falls

La La Falls

Follow the track through tall Mountain Ash forest and lush ferny glades, to the picturesque La La Falls. The track has a moderate grade, which can be slightly challenging; allow 1.5 hours for a return trip. For a particularly impressive view, visit after heavy rainfall when the falls are at their most powerful.

Bushwalking Mountain Bike Riding

The O’Shannassy Trail is a 30 kilometre walking and bike-riding trail from East Warburton to Don Valley in the Upper Yarra Valley. The trail runs in alongside the Warburton Rail Trail, however, the O’Shannassy Trail is set into the mountain ranges, and provides a different viewpoint to the landscape. Surrounded by tall trees, and lush ferns, the trail follows the historic open channelled O’Shannassy Aqueduct, and allows for impressive views of the Yarra Valley.
