Tucked away on five acres of rolling countryside in the heart of Penrose, The Pavilion @ The Vale Penrose is an indulgent, design-led retreat created for couples seeking privacy, comfort, and a true escape from the everyday.

Thoughtfully designed and beautifully appointed, The Pavilion is the newest addition to The Vale Penrose—an established luxury farm stay known for its exceptional guest experience since 2019.

The space
A private haven for two

Designed exclusively for couples, The Pavilion offers a seamless blend of modern luxury and relaxed country living.

Inside, you’ll find a light-filled open-plan living and dining space anchored by a cosy indoor fireplace—perfect for slow evenings with a glass of wine. The fully equipped kitchen features premium appliances, including an induction cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, and Nespresso machine, making it just as suited for a quiet night in as it is for a leisurely breakfast.

The bedroom is a serene retreat, complete with a king-size bed and walk-in robe, while the bathroom is a true highlight of the space.

A spa-like experience

Crafted with travertine stone and refined finishes, the bathroom is designed for indulgence. Enjoy a large freestanding bathtub, a spacious double shower, luxurious vanity, and your very own private sauna—bringing a boutique wellness experience into your stay.

Outdoor living at its best

Step outside to your private courtyard and unwind in the outdoor hot tub, surrounded by peaceful countryside views. A generously sized verandah with outdoor furnishings invites you to slow down, soak in the fresh air, and take in the rolling hills that define this beautiful part of the Southern Highlands.

A luxury farm stay experience

While The Pavilion offers complete privacy, guests are welcome to explore the wider property, including its mature gardens and open spaces. You’ll also have the chance to meet our friendly farm animals—chickens, sheep, and alpacas—which add a charming rural touch to your stay.

Each morning begins with a thoughtful DIY breakfast offering, including fresh eggs from our chickens, along with coffee, tea, and a selection of special touches to make your stay feel effortless.

A private haven for you—and your dog

One of The Pavilion’s most unique features is its expansive, fully enclosed private garden—approximately 1,800 sqm of open lawn designed for both relaxation and freedom.

This generous space offers a rare opportunity for guests travelling with dogs to truly unwind, with plenty of room to roam safely and explore. At its heart stands a magnificent 200+ year-old gum tree, creating a striking natural centrepiece and the perfect spot to sit, slow down, and take in the surrounding countryside.

Additional features include:

Ducted air conditioning for year-round comfort
Reliable WiFi
Self check-in for a seamless arrival
Parking directly outside the Pavilion

The Vale Penrose

Set across five acres, The Vale Penrose is home to three private, standalone accommodations:
The Pavilion, The Villa, and The Studio—each designed for two guests and completely separate for maximum privacy.

For larger bookings, the three can be reserved together, making it an ideal option for small groups, couples travelling together, or intimate celebrations.

Location

Located at 80 Kareela Road, Penrose, The Pavilion is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes from both Sydney and Canberra—close enough for a spontaneous escape, yet far enough to truly unwind.

Penrose itself is a quiet rural hamlet, offering a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path experience. A local general store provides coffee and simple breakfast options, while the wider Southern Highlands region is home to renowned wineries, charming villages, and scenic drives.

Nearby destinations include Bowral, Berrima, Moss Vale, Mittagong, and Kangaroo Valley.

The experience

Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub under the stars, enjoying a slow morning with fresh farm eggs, or simply embracing the stillness of the countryside, The Pavilion is designed to help you reconnect, recharge, and indulge in a slower pace of living.

Guest access
You will have the entire Pavilion to yourself. The Pavilion is accessible through a private road which runs along our manicured gardens. Parking is available just outside The Pavilion.

Such a special stay. The Pavilion itself is beautifully designed and considered and feels luxurious, yet homely. The hot tub and sauna really is just the cherry on an already incredible cake. Fed was a pleasure to deal with and all check-in instructions were clear. Hope to visit again!

Bushwalk The Erith Coal Mine Trail In Morton National Park

A beautiful bushwalk in Morton National Park, the Erith Coal Mine Trail takes you to the old coal mine openings (no longer open, of course) and a stunning waterfall. Hop over the streams and make your way down to the bottom of the waterfall for a spot where the fairies must live.

I love a country pub, and Bundanoon is as about as charming as they get, especially during Autumn

Potters Pantry

After a big day out, we discovered a quiet little cafe in Bundanoon. Often we find places like this close after morning trade, but this spot was still open even as we arrived after 4pm. The kids were treated to some oversized cookies and the parents enjoyed a cheeky late afternoon coffee.

Grand Canyon Lookout

We grabbed lunch from Deli Licious Bundanoon and took a short, easy drive along Bundanoon Loop Rd, just a few minutes from town. Finding the perfect spot at Grand Canyon Lookout, we enjoyed our meal while taking in the wide, open view of the mountain ridges. The fresh air, peaceful surroundings, and breathtaking scenery made it an unforgettable, relaxing moment.

Starting at the Gambells Rest Picnic area or the Fairy Bower car park in the Morton National Park. The walks to the falls offer wonderful views of the waterfall and a picnic area. Don’t miss the view at Tooths Lookout. The walk is a one-hour loop, medium to steep.
