A Charming Forest Cabin on the Black Spur
Cabin in Narbethong, Yarra Valley, VIC, AU
4 people
No pets
Tucked away within our enchanting 10-acre temperate rainforest, this beautifully restored cabin invites you to slow down, reconnect, and experience the timeless beauty of the Black Spur.
Originally built in the 1890s, the cabin has been thoughtfully preserved, retaining the warmth, character and craftsmanship of another era while offering all the comforts for a peaceful escape. Rich timber, original features and a crackling wood fire heater create an atmosphere that's both nostalgic and wonderfully cosy.
Perfect for one or two couples, the cabin features two inviting bedrooms, a comfortable lounge area, a fully equipped kitchen, a separate dining room with wood fire heater, and a central bathroom with composting toilet. The garden room is an all-season retreat where you can enjoy your morning coffee, curl up with a book, or simply watch the changing light through the surrounding forest.
Step outside and immerse yourself in towering Mountain Ash, ancient tree ferns and abundant birdlife. Breathe in the fresh mountain air, or simply settle in and embrace the slower rhythm of life. Evenings are made for sharing a meal, enjoying a local bottle of wine by the fire, and listening to the sounds of the forest as night falls.
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, escaping with friends, or looking for a quiet couples' retreat, this character-filled cabin offers the perfect balance of history, comfort and nature.
Just a short drive from waterfalls, walking trails, wineries and the vibrant township of Healesville, you'll have the best of the Yarra Ranges at your doorstep—while still feeling wonderfully removed from the everyday.
There is another Airbnb cabin located elsewhere on the property, thoughtfully positioned to ensure each retreat enjoys its own sense of peace and privacy. While you may occasionally see other guests your cabin is your own private sanctuary to relax and unwind.

Picnic At Fernshaw Picnic Ground
On our second day, we took some of the ingredients provided by our amazing hosts as well as some fruits and nuts and had a cute little picnic on a field of daisies underneath a giant Cedar tree. It was so dreamy! It is a huge area with plenty to explore and lots of walks to go on!

Selovers Lookout
A beautiful vantage point overlooking the Maroondah reservoir and surrounding mountains. We loved stopping here and taking in the beauty around us!
Maroondah Dam
A wholesome little nature park experience, with the gardens as beautiful as the dam view from the top of the wall, there are some short walks and large gardens to explore, closing at 6pm it's a great time of year to catch the nice light as the sun is setting a little earlier. However any time of day you visit, you're sure to enjoy the view and easy cruise around the gardens.

Keppel Lookout
Nestled high above Marysville overlooking the mountains we were taken away by the view.
