We had such a great time at Serenity Abode. It’s only about 45 minutes from Melbourne, but it still felt like a proper escape. We ended up forgetting a few things, but luckily, the house is just 10 mi...nutes from major stores, so it was super easy to duck out and grab what we needed.
The house had pretty much everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable, and the space was equipped with heating and AC, which is great depending on the season. There was plenty of room for our dog Freyja to roam around outside. It’s not fully fenced, so something to keep in mind, but the space feels private enough that we could keep an eye on her without worry.
We spent most evenings cooking dinner on the BBQ and sitting by the fire for sunset. During the day, we explored nearby towns, did a coastal walk, and even made a trip out to Phillip Island. There's lots to do if you want to explore, but it’s also a perfect spot to just slow down and unwind.

The location itself was nice, but unfortunately, our experience wasn’t worth the $485 per night. We encountered several issues that made our stay uncomfortable.
A small dog was barking at our windo...w for over 30 minutes, disrupting our peace.
The wind was extremely strong, and the tiny house kept jolting, making it hard to sleep. While weather is out of anyone’s control, the structure didn’t feel very stable.
No milk was provided for coffee, which was disappointing for the price point. Long-life milk could be a simple solution.
The outdoor lounge was broken, and my husband fell through when he went to sit down. He hurt himself slightly, which wasn’t ideal.
The host was polite and responsive, but overall, the experience didn’t match the price tag. We wouldn’t return.
HOST RESPONSE:
Thanks for your feedback, Jessie. I’m truly sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet the high standard we strive to provide — that’s never what we want for our guests.
While some factors, are outside our control, we’ve taken steps to help mitigate these issues in the future. The outdoor lounge has now been repaired, and I do hope your husband is okay.
Regarding the milk, we’ve had similar requests in the past and are always happy to provide milk or any other small comforts when guests let us know — we genuinely want everyone to feel at home during their stay.
Thank you again for your honest feedback, it’s valuable in helping us improve.
Warm regards,
Cam & Megan

Kangaroo Spotting At Cardinia Reservoir
We headed to Cardinia Reservoir Park one evening and were blown away by how expansive and beautiful it was. The park has plenty of walking trails and open space, and we spotted so many kangaroo families around sunset, it was definitely a highlight. There are also great facilities for families with kids, including playgrounds and picnic areas. You could easily spend the whole day here just walking, relaxing, and taking it all in.
Sherbrooke Falls
Follow a track that meanders through an impressive forest containing the tallest flowering hardwood in the world, the Mountain Ash. Admire the lush ferns below and keep an eye out for the Lyrebird, which can often be seen within the forest. The falls are most remarkable after rain when the Sherbrooke Creek cascades over rocky outcrops. (2.4km return)
Alfred Nicholas Gardens
Located on the gorgeous Sherbrooke Road in the Dandenong Ranges, the Burnham Beeches Estate is home to the beautiful Alfred Nicholas Gardens. The Alfred Nicholas Gardens are known for their picturesque waterfalls, water features and its iconic ornamental lake and boathouse.
Dandenong Ranges National Park
The National Park is home to crystal clear streams, waterfalls and creeks and has an widespread network of walking trails that allow you to discover all the peaceful hidden spots. With many a picnic ground to be found. The Park is interspersed with small villages and roads - the legacy of the regions time as a timber harvesting area in the 1800’s.
Fresh Oysters Scallops From San Remo
On our way toward Phillip Island, we stopped at the San Remo Fisherman’s Co-Op to grab some fresh seafood to eat before heading back to the Tiny House. We picked up oysters and scallops, and they were so fresh, exactly what we were craving after a long coastal walk.
George Bass Coastal Walk
We did the full 15km George Bass Coastal Walk and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It’s pet-friendly, which meant Freyja could join us the whole way, and the views were incredible from start to finish. The track takes you through a mix of terrain - grassy paths, rugged cliffside tracks, and sections that bring you right down to the beach. It’s manageable for most fitness levels, and the scenery makes every step worth it. Highly recommend packing water, some snacks, and giving yourself time to just take it all in.
