Welcome to Steep Creek Retreat, a peaceful oasis. You'll be treated to a warm and comfortable 3 bedroom house nestled in the rainforest, with views of Belgrave Lake Park, birds, alpacas grazing, and the most wonderful forest sights and sounds.

Feed birds on the verandah, sit by the fire, relax in the bath, scramble down to the park and Monbulk Creek walks, or walk to Puffing Billy or Belgrave's bands, bars and night life. When you're here, it feels like another world.

RETREAT DETAILS
A spacious split-level living area with a wood heater, a kitchen and dining room; three comfortable bedrooms, a bathroom with bath and shower, and a laundry with washer and dryer.

The bedrooms are two luxurious queen rooms and a third with the option of a king size bed or two singles.

GUEST ACCESS
Guests can use the entire space, including the garden and verandah. There are a few steps up from the driveway, and 5 steps between the dining and living rooms.

The road is steep and there is limited turning space, so we recommend parking no more than two cars on the property.

If driving a 2WD car, be aware that your wheels may slip driving up the public road if you stop in the steepest part. (If this happens, just roll back to the driveway and start again!)

Most guests have no trouble entering and leaving, but there is parking up the hill if this is a concern for you. The walk down is steep but lovely.

Couldn't have asked for anything more perfect! We booked this little gem to use for our wedding weekend - I stayed the night before, got ready with my bridal party there, and then we had the next coup...le of nights just to ourselves.
Marcus and Abigail have thought of everything you could possibly need, including a generously stocked pantry of essentials and a kitchen decked out with high quality appliances.
The street is very steep but Marcus sent through detailed instructions that made us feel super comfortable navigating the street/driveway (even in our little two wheel drive car). And on the plus side the steep incline means that the view is incredible and you feel like the neighbours are a million miles away, despite only being a few minutes from the heart of Belgrave.
I'd recommend Steep Creek Retreat whether you're looking for a spot for your family, a peaceful couples getaway or something a bit more adventurous, it has ALL the bases covered!

We were greeted every morning by beautiful bird song and enjoyed the subtle luxury and generosity of this place during our 3 day/2 night stay. Heavy rain would not allow for any of the suggested walks but we could relax easily near the fire with a delicious cup of tee or freshly brewed coffee

Such a peaceful place to stay and such a lovely house. Marcus and Abigail were so helpful and approachable and it was so nice to have some time amongst all the trees and the birds.

With lush fern gullies brushing past and Mountain Ash trees towering overhead, Puffing Billy makes for a wonderful opportunity to relax and breathe in the fresh air whilst the train makes its way through the temperate rainforest.

Sherbrooke Falls

Enjoy this peaceful walk to Sherbrooke Falls, and find a new favourite escape for walks and picnics. Start at the beginning of the track near the main entrance on Sherbrooke Road, and wind past rough and smooth tree ferns. Along the way you'll see the region's finest sassafras and mountain ash, some of them up to 200 years old.

Olinda Falls

Located in the cool climate of the Dandenong Ranges, Olinda Falls is an ideal spot to have a peaceful picnic. The leisurely walk to Olinda Falls is only 500m and is shaded from the car park all the way to the falls.

One of the most iconic trails in the country, the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail travels from the Dandenong Ranges through to the Great Dividing Ranges. Stretching 38 kilometres, the trail is perfect for keen cyclists looking to explore the region.
