See further details below.....

The Greenhills Tavern started off it's life in the early 1900's and was used as a farm workshop. In the early 2000's, your host Paul decided that he was going to restore it into a workable shed for storage. It then became a 'mens shed'. Then it became a music studio. Finally it morphed into the "Greenhills Tavern", after 15 years of work. Part rustic shack, part log cabin, part retro hideway, it has been restored lovingly, using up-cycled material found from around the farm, and the local area.

Some of the original bush posts still feature as supports in the living area. Pressed tin has been used for the fireplace surrounds, as well as featuring in the kitchen and bathroom areas. The main living area interior walls have been clad with the floor boards of an old barn. The ceiling has been clad with the original corrugated iron that came off the main homestead on the property.

The living area comes complete with an open fireplace, kitchen, dining & bathroom facilities, as well as mod-cons like Wi-Fi, netflix & audio system.

In the bedroom, exposed trusses feature from an old farm shed. The walls have been clad with split pine logs and used lining boards, while the ceiling is a natural timber finish. The exterior cladding of the bedroom is the original corrugated iron off the 'chaff' shed, which used to stand next door to the stable.

Both buildings have been fully insulated, so they are cosy and warm in winter, and cool in summer, with split system air conditioning, gas heating and the open fireplace complimenting the temperature control of the rooms.

The outdoor verandah area consists of a 4 burner BBQ, outdoor bar, (which used to be a counter out of a bank), an outdoor wood heater for those cold nights, and an irrigated grassed area with a hammock and deluxe folding outdoor chairs available for guests to use, while sitting under the peppercorn tree in the middle of the grassed area.

Around the property there are many old historic farm buildings, including an original 'boundary riders' hut (circa 1870's).

The Yarriambiack Creek is the western boundary of the property, and is a haven for birds and wildlife such as kangaroos & wallabies. Ancient river redgums run along the creek which provide for nice shady spots in summer. The creek relies on seasonal rainfall, and when running, is deep enough for swimming or paddling around in a kayak. When dry, the creek bed makes a fantastic walking track.

If you are looking for a unique family holiday, or you are an artist and want to do some songwriting or painting, or just need to get out of the rat race and chill out, then this could be just the place for you.

If you need more space to bring other family and friends, we also have these additional options on the property.

- Tiny House (check out the listing for "Mayfair v2.0"). Suitable for 2 people.

- Tiny House Truck (check out the listing for "The International"). Suitable for up to 5 people.

- Campsite. Suitable for up to 4 caravans/RV's/campers, or 20 people. Complete with decking, green grass, campfire pits, mains water, power and amenities block.

Please message the host if you would like to enquire about using any of the above.

Stay 2 nights, and for the price of a 5kg bag of carrots 🥕 🥕 (currently under $10) you can stay an extra night!! **

All you need to do to claim your extra night, is book a 2 night stay through any of the usual channels, and then like/tag us on your socials with your bag of carrots, and we will add an extra night to your stay...simple as that!!

Things have been challenging for our region recently. Over summer, we had bushfires in National Parks either side of us, which was a huge concern, and although we were not directly impacted, visitors to the region have declined.

In addition, from January 1st, the new Victorian 'Short Term Stay Levy' has been introduced to help ease the long term housing crisis. How our accommodation offerings are impacting long term housing security I do not know (don't get me started!!), but unfortunately this increases the cost to guests.

And as a triple blow, we are now in severe drought, with feed getting low, and crops struggling to come out of the ground.

So that is where the bag of carrots come in. With you supplying a bag of carrots to help feed our camels Gobi and Mo, you are helping us not to have to buy in feed. In addition, you are indirectly supporting drought ravaged regions, by hopefully enjoying a coffee, a beer, a meal or doing some shopping in our local community. And our community and local region need all the support we can get in times like this. 🙏

So, it is a win win for everyone!! 🏆🏆🏆🏆

👍 We get to share our unique rural escape with you.
👍 You get to stay 3 nights, pretty much for the price of 2, and you contribute to drought support within our region.
👍 Our camels Gobi and Mo will be living like kings, without us having to buy in feed.
👍 Jacinta gets her money to help the long term housing crisis.

And even though we are in drought, we still have patches of lush green grass, abundant wildlife, birdsong every dawn and dusk, stunning sunrises and sunsets, starry nights, and toasty campfires. And of course, two resident camels Gobi & Mo, who love getting selfies with our guests 🤳

**Offer not available on long weekends or school holidays.
