Beautifully appointed and spacious apartment. That bath! The board games and books, the coffee machine! The comfy bed and loads of blankets. All making fab resting stop after a couple of long and som...etimes very wet and cold days on the bikes. The only thing to note if you’re on your bikes like we were - be prepared for a steep climb at the end of your ride. And a short bike back into the village for dinner/supplies.

I remember when studying Narrative Therapy years ago, learning about the Landscape of Identity. It's just landed with me again when thinking about how to write an honest review about the beautiful War...burton Wildflower Retreat. It wasn't just that the space itself was imbued with such lovely energy and thoughtfulness, it was also about being able to feel, what I can only guess, are Melanie's values and identity in the space. We were lucky enough to have a few chats with Melanie and her partner, and just felt so welcomed and supported to land gently and respectfully in the Country of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people.
The accommodation itself was comfortably arranged and appointed. The design and layout offered the most practical use of the area while maintaining a homely, creative and comfy feel.
Melanie and her partner were great with the kids and just seemed to have a sense of adventure, local connection to Country and the environment, and a willingness to relate. We felt very cared for and a more joyful experience than the usual accommodation experience.
It was also the small things that allowed us to relax instead of running in to town for forgotten items; Warbotanicals Shampoo, conditioner, body gel, a great selection of kids and adults books, board games, coffee machine, BBQ, fridge, table, microwave, toaster, and kettle.
We loved the outdoor zen space and exploring the garden, saying g'day to the dogs, and climbing into a comfy bed at the end of an active day. Our days included swimming in the river out of town in Milgrove, sunset and moonrise on Mt Donna Buang, Rainforest Gallery, Redwood Forest and O'Shanassy Aqueduct walks, dinner at Babajis Kerala Kitchen and more.
My daughter woke up last night and I heard her say, "mummy, I had a really nice dream, it was about us all having the same holiday again." That's enough of a review in itself.

The trail runs in alongside the Warburton Rail Trail, however, the O’Shannassy Trail is set into the mountain ranges, and provides a different viewpoint to the landscape. Surrounded by tall trees, and lush ferns, the trail follows the historic open channelled O’Shannassy Aqueduct, and allows for impressive views of the Yarra Valley.

The Black Spur
An iconic drive winding through lush rainforest joining the Yarra Valley to the Marysville mountains. Enjoy a picturesque drive through 28 kilometres of vibrant greenery. There are stops along the road to set up a picnic and see the brilliant ferns up close.
