Sunrise Cottage is part of the "Mont du Soleil" Estate and is situated in Emerald, in the heart of the beautiful Dandenongs. This is a truly unique property inspired by the buildings and grounds of Provence & Tuscany.
You’ll love the unique design and ambience of the property, the stunning views, the peace and tranquillity (located on 40-acre estate), centrally located in the beautiful Dandenongs; yet less than an hour by car from Melbourne CBD.
Visitors always comment on the amazing ambience of the property, unique architecture combined with outstanding scenery and views. As well as the abundant bird life (parrot's, corella's etc); there are domesticated animals on the property, (horses, alpacas, sheep, geese and cattle).
Whilst you will benefit from the peace and tranquillity of staying on a 40-acre (16Ha) property, your hosts Liz and Robert reside in the main house on the property, so you can be comforted from knowing that the Estate is constantly occupied.
Sunrise Cottage was featured on December 2024 Christmas special episode of Neighbours.
Photoshoots are NOT allowed in the Cottage, but we do host on the property. Please contact montdusoleil.com for details.

Such a beautiful winter escape at Sunrise Cottage at Mont du Soleil Estate. We absolutely loved the ambience and the thoughtfully curated décor—it was warm, cosy, and the perfect place to unwind. It h...as to be one of the best spots in Emerald to watch the sunset; the views were simply stunning. My fiancé and I truly loved our stay and can't wait to come back. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful and memorable getaway!

This is the third property we have developed as owner builders. The property has been inspired by renowned owner built buildings such as Montsalvat in Eltham as well as Provencal and Tuscan architecture and gardens. The buildings have been built almost entirely from recycled materials to deliver a timeless quality. Liz is an artist and Robert has an engineering background and have combined their skills to build a uniquely designed environment. Sunrise Cottage and the other buildings on the 40 acre property face due North and hence have sunny aspects; plus outstanding views of the Warburton Valley set in the beautiful Dandenongs, (only an hour from Melbourne CBD). The property features a wide variety of bird-life plus domestic animals such as Horses, Alpacas, Geese and Cattle. All of these delivers a truly unique holiday experience for guests.

Bushwalking
There is a walking trail literally 40 metres from your Cottage, (adjoins Estate boundary) details are provided in the Cottage. Dandenong Ranges are renowned for their beautiful walks. There are numerous trails in the immediate area.

Secret Lookout
A little secret on a back street, this view is incredible early morning when there's fog hanging in the valley.
Eastern Sherbrooke Forest Walk
This forest walk allows you to see the changing vegetation of the area. Admire towering Mountain Ash and Stringybark trees and lush ferns. Keep an eye out for wildlife including lyrebird living together with wombats, wallaby, echidna, possums and powerful owls. (6.6km return)
Rj Hamer Arboretum
A beautiful and expansive place to walk, hike, picnic and explore. The arboretum has a wide variety of bushland, lakes, ornamental trees and wildlife. We didn't manage a photo but we could hear lyrebirds calling the whole time we visited.
Sherbrooke Falls
Follow a track that meanders through an impressive forest containing the tallest flowering hardwood in the world, the Mountain Ash. Admire the lush ferns below and keep an eye out for the Lyrebird, which can often be seen within the forest. The falls are most remarkable after rain when the Sherbrooke Creek cascades over rocky outcrops. (2.4km return)
Proserpina Bakehouse
Delicious freshly baked goods, amazing coffee and pantry stocked with local produce. This is a must-visit for the Dandenong Ranges.
