Ashlar on Hilltop Road
Adventure in Avalon Beach, Sydney, NSW, AU
Ashlar on Hilltop Road is the perfect getaway for couples looking to explore the grandeur and serenity that Avalon Beach has to offer. If a solo retreat is more your speed, this could be the space you need to finish those personal projects that a busy life seems to get in the way of.
Surrounded by trees and overlooking the views of Pittwater, this beautifully constructed sandstone retreat is a great hub to explore the surroundings of Avalon. The openness of the property lets air flow through and natural light hits beautifully indoors. Our lovely hosts provided fresh sourdough, homemade plum jam and a bottle of red to be enjoyed on the back veranda while watching the native birds overhead. The perfect picnic spot!
The property supplies two mountain bikes to explore the area, with cafes, restaurants, and boutiques all within a 10-minute ride. We especially enjoyed riding around, looking at the magnificent houses scattered on the cliffside with breathtaking views of Pittwater on the other. The area had no shortage of cafes and restaurants to soak up the local atmosphere and enjoy some amazing seafood. If you're planning on staying in and creating, the property has all the amenities you'll need.
If you're a history buff the house was built in 1930 by a revered landscape painter, Robert Johnson, and is NSW heritage listed as an example of an early artists’ home in a bush setting. Johnsons’ eye comes through in the positioning, design, and preservation of the cottage-style property, now updated with suiting fixtures and modern amenities.
A great place to calm the mind and channel your inner creativity.
