Sister Sirens Visit the Seaside
Adventure in Longview, Southwest Washington, WA, US
Do you know that satisfying feeling when two separate timelines merge perfectly? That's what this trip was for my sister and me. She was driving up from Napa, California, to Washington to visit me and I just so happened to take on this Riparide story at the same time. I had her meet me at this new waterfront retreat nestled in the lush canyon on the outskirts of Longview – a simple city along the Columbia River.
After a short but beautiful drive along a winding road, we arrived at this stunning property right on the bustling Abernathy Creek and it instantly put us at ease. It's extremely peaceful and very comfy. We cooked dinner, drank wine, and danced in the kitchen on our first night. The next day, we drove to Cannon Beach in Oregon because my sister had never been. It was just under a two-hour drive, so we decided what the heck! That was a big perk of this retreat's location – we could visit two gorgeous PNW states in one stay.
We drank coffee on the porch every morning and did yoga along the riverside. We walked away from this stay feeling relaxed and our sisterly bond even stronger.

Things We Did
- Beach
- Brewery
- Restaurant
This is one for all the nerds who love the classic 80s amazingness that is The Goonies! We took a drive down to Cannon Beach, Oregon, where a lot of the beach scenes were filmed, and ran along the wide expanse of the beach like little kids.
In the distance is Haystack Rock – a glorious, gargantuan rock formation rocketing out of the Pacific. This trip had to include a stop by the actual Goonies House where Chunk does the classic "Truffle Shuffle" on the front porch. We most definitely ignited our childish enthusiasm!

Pelican Brewing is located in the adorable downtown of Cannon Beach. There's lots of indoor and outdoor seating and a true beach-town vibe.
We found a great little neighbourhood Mexican joint called Maria's Place. A very no-frills, straightforward environment that takes its margaritas very seriously by serving them to you in a bucket glass. This brought us great joy and it was the perfect end to our adventurous day.
