A Peaceful Nordic Cabin Escape

A Nordic cabin stands in a residential neighbourhood in small-town Suquamish. It's hard to put a finger on how, but you instantly feel at peace when you step through the front door. The word "hygge" perfectly encapsulates the experience; everything about this charming space makes you want to wrap yourself in a blanket, fix a hot chocolate, and dive into a juicy novel. It's stardust. Stress-melting stardust.

My partner and I arrived late in the evening in the middle of a busy week, and after sharing a humble meal, fell asleep in the fluffy bed. We instantly felt safe here. The following morning, we decided to opt for some baby-goat therapy and visited the Smithshyre, a (genuinely) organic farm and hub for agritourism. Only nine minutes away from the cabin, we cuddled (and were gently eaten by) a very sweet pack of baby goats. It was therapeutic (to say the least) and time just melted away when we were near these critters.

After, we popped by Suquamish Dock and watched the seagulls soar, marvelling at the view. In the evening, my friend Julie and I explored Winslow Way in Bainbridge, picking up a few antiques and grabbing some steaming-hot pho before turning in early for the night.

No part of me wanted to say goodbye to this cozy haven when it came time to leave, but my heart filled up with tranquillity, fresh air, and that elusive "hygge" during our two nights here.

A (genuinely) organic farm that offers private cuddle sessions with baby goats as well as goat yoga. They not only have goats on their massive property, but also sheep, fluffy dogs, turkeys, and chicks. The goats will absolutely nip at your clothes and jump on your back, and every part of it is delightful.

Suquamish Dock overlooks Port Madison and the Puget Sound. It's an absolutely gorgeous spot to picnic, walk, or just hang with the local seagulls.

Winslow Way is the hub for all things Bainbridge. No chain stores or strip malls in sight; just the local fare, antique shops, galleries, and curiosities. There's lots to do and see, especially if you like window shopping and craft cocktails!
