Rustic Cabin Escape Near Mt Hood
Adventure in Brightwood, Mt Hood & River Gorge, OR, US
If you're looking to for the perfect rustic cabin escape, look no further than the Historic Cedarwood Cabin. It definitely has a perfect cozy cabin feel that will bring to life any trip through the Pacific Northwest.
The cabin may be small, but that just lends to the coziness and makes it perfect for a couple's getaway, a solo retreat, or a few close friends. The fireplace is the perfect spot to cozy up during the colder months, or you can get a fire roaring in the fire pit out the back. The cabin is stocked with a bunch of board games, perfect for any cozy evening inside, and is close to many outdoor hikes and adventures within the Mount Hood National Forest.
It was pretty rainy during my stay, so cozying up next to the fireplace was absolutely ideal! During a break in the rain on the second day, I got out for a hike along the Salmon River, just a few minutes from the cabin. The trail is great for all skill levels and definitely dog friendly! During the spring and early summer months, the forests are so lush, making for an absolutely magical experience! On the last day, the weather cleared a bit which allowed for a pleasant fire outside. To wrap up the relaxing escape, I made a stop at one of my all-time favorite restaurants along Highway 26, Koya Kitchen!

Things We Did
- Hike
- Restaurant
- Lake
A perfect, dog-friendly trail for hikers of all skill levels, the Salmon River Trail winds through classic PNW scenery of beautifully lush forests. Rain or shine, hiking the trail is definitely a refreshing way to spend the day.
Easily one of the best places to eat along Highway 26. If you enjoy authentic Japanese food with a fun and eclectic atmosphere, you won't be disappointed by Koya Kitchen!
An easy hike takes you to this little spring-fed lake, which is well worth checking out at least once. The crystal clear waters take on varying shades of blue depending on the amount of sunshine on the day you visit, and while you can't swim in the lake, it's quite a sight to see all the way to the bottom!
