Absolute Waterfront Luxury
Adventure in Cottage Point, Sydney, NSW, AU
I love exploring new parts of New South Wales and Cottage Point has been high on that list for a long time.
After a shockingly easy 50-minute drive from Sydney, we found ourselves in what feels like a completely different world. Surrounded by native wildlife and water as far as the eye can see, Cottage Point is a Sydney suburb you have to see to believe.
When we first arrived at Cottage Point, we quickly noticed that The Deckhouse was significantly lower than where we were currently standing...enter the inclinator. Despite only learning the word 'inclinator' on this trip, it quickly become my preferred method of arrival. The short and scenic trip down to the waterfront only built anticipation for what we were about to experience at The Deckhouse.
Split across two separate living spaces, The Deckhouse is perfect for one or two couples looking for a romantic escape from the city. The space is beautiful and fitted with everything you need but the real star of the show is the absolute waterfront luxury you'll experience. Words (and pictures) don't do it justice so just do yourself a favour and get booking.
Whilst there's lots to do in the local area, we found ourselves mostly taking in the water view in its various forms with a special mention to my favourite couple, sunrise and sunset.

Things We Did
- Restaurant
- Boat
- Waterfall
- Sunset
The Deckhouse might hold the award for the closest location to a chef-hatted restaurant in Australia, at a measly 4-minute walk (or 30-second boat trip). The views at The Cottage Point Inn are incredible and only upstaged by the food which when combined, delivers a truly amazing experience that you have to experience whilst you're in the area.
One of the first things you should do is to say hello to the legends at the Cottage Point Kiosk. Not only do they serve incredible food and drink (the fish curry was a particular highlight), they can also organise a boat for you so you can explore the local waterways...how's that for multi-tasking!
Once you've got your water vessel sorted, it's time to explore some secret beaches. Our favourite was Refuge Bay which whilst accessible by foot, feels a lot more piratey by boat. During the wetter seasons, you'll find a continuous fall on the beach which only adds to the pirate vibes.
If, like me, you hate sharing a sunset or sunset with a group of strangers, The Deckhouse is for you. You'll be treated to a private light show for as long as you decide to stay and even if it doesn't pop, there's something about being near the water as the day ends/begins that fixes everything.
