Mid Century Bush Retreat

What was an old 2BR fishing cabin in the late 70's, the Casa Warrandyte Bush Retreat has been transformed into a mid-century retreat in a section of the Warrandyte State Park. We decided we needed a quick overnight escape and found this property to be super convenient, it only took us around 50 minutes to get there. You really feel as though you are deep in the bush hours away from civilisation which is great, waking up to the birds and other wildlife was a huge highlight. Another stand out was the outdoor hot bath with a glass of wine followed by a cosy night in front of the fireplace.

We decided we didn't want to eat out as we wanted to make the most of the short stay at this amazing property so we grabbed local Indian and had it delivered. We explored the area with the limited time we had, we found a nice cafe in Lilydale and a few walks in the Warrandyte State Park. There were also Kayaks on the property too if you wish to go for a paddle on the Yarra which is right at the rear of the house. Overall a super relaxing mid-week escape, a great way to reset and continue on in the rat race in the inner city. We would happily return!

Situated in the Warrandyte State Park, this retreat is the perfect escape for inner city folk who have a taste for mid-century architecture and styling. It was nice staying in a house where everything was curated and had its place, from the furniture to the artwork and even the crockery. The house itself sleeps 7,  great for larger groups or retreats. It was super cosy and warm at night, the king bed was lux and it was nice waking up to views of the bush without any curtains to disturb it. Floor to ceiling glass throughout really brings the outdoors in. A great place to stay.

The property has a large bin full of bird seed you can help yourself to if you wish to feed the local birds. The Parrots are super friendly and are likely to be there for most of your stay....
A nicely designed space with great coffee, service and food. Around 20 minutes from the accomodation. We started our day off here first before our check in....
A super quick drive from the main street in Warrandyte we saw a sign for Jumping Creek Reserve and followed the road to the carpark. We went for a casual stroll along the Yarra where we found heaps of wildlife and a few logs to chill on that looked out over the Yarra....
A nice short walk from the carpark to the Pound Bend Tunnel, we played around on the rocks near the mouth of the tunnel. A great spot to swim in the warmer months....
Located on the main strip in Warrandyte, we grabbed a coffee and some brekkie here after we checked out. Tasty food!...
The property has a range of Kayaks for you to use if you wish on the Yarra river which is situated at the bottom of the property....
