Fogo Beachfront Bliss Retreat

Despite visiting the Royal National Park multiple times, I've never really thought too much about the small village of Bundeena... and I've been missing out.

The drive to Bundeena from Sydney is a dream. As I approached the pin on Google Maps, my excitement heightened - it was clear that the road to Fogo at Ethel & Odes was all coastal, giving me a taste of the stay I was in for at Fogo. I unpacked my car, opened the gate, and was met by the most stunning communal garden and golden view of the ocean.

After a couple more turns and paths, the full beauty of Fogo was revealed to me. This small, self-contained studio has everything you need for an unplugged escape with a view that is hard to comprehend or even capture. It's one of those experiences that has to be seen to be appreciated.

The following couple of days consisted of beach swims, exploring the Royal National Park, meeting the incredible locals of Bundeena, and, of course, doing very little whilst soaking in the afternoon sun and ocean. I'm already planning my next trip back to Bundeena - get it on your Riparide bucket list immediately!

This quaint and cute cafe feels like it's the community hub of Bundeenda with incredibly friendly staff and beautiful food. I went a couple of times during my stay and had a beautiful experience both times.

The Royal National Park is an incredible location to explore with hikes for all experience levels. My personal highlights are Wedding Cake Rock (although currently fenced off due to impeding erosion) and Eagle Rock.

If you fancy an adventure that finishes with a swim, drive to Waterfall car park and take the Karloo walking track which is a beautiful trail that ends at Karloo pools. If you're not exhausted, walk back, otherwise you can hop on the train at Heathcote and go one stop along to Waterfall to retrieve your car.
