The Horse of-course

The winter solstice isn't timed with a full moon very often, so we decided on a little solstice staycay with the wolfpack. The Horse was the perfect spot for it, nestled in the hills of Lennox Head - just a hop, skip & jump to town and the beach.

Part cabin, part tent, this cosy-but-wild-bolt-hole is a magical little space. Cozy, quirky, and simply unforgettable. The lovely host Justine, has collected artifacts from around the globe, so everywhere you look there are little treasures. We loved the incredibly comfortable king-sized bed with soft lush linen, perfect pillows, and a warm throw. The outdoor bathroom looked like a storybook, with jasmine growing right across the back wall. The dogs were equally entranced, exploring the huge yard, and playing with the resident gentle giant - Basil the Irish Wolfhound. The outdoor kitchen with a gas camping stove allows you to create culinary delights, while listening to tunes & taking in the sunset. We made cups of tea and settled in with our uggs & ponchos by the chiminea.

The next morning we hit the beach for a leg & paw stretch. Lennox Head has one of the most breathtaking beaches in the area called Seven Mile, with the longest stretch of dog-friendly space around. Hungry and ready for brunch, we headed a little way south to Ballina to a cafe called Tel Aviv Yafo, and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend the brisket ruben sandwich, oh my!

Back at the horse, we settled into the solstice vibes. I put my gypsy jewels on, and we brought out the tarot cards for a play. As the full moon came up that night, the sky was clear, and air crisp. We did what any wolfpack would do... and sat by the fire to howl at the moon.

We had a slow cruisy final morning and finished up our weekend with a picnic lunch at the Pat Mortons lookout. We watched whales migrating north and ate some yummy salads from the Seagrass Green Grocer.

Anything goes at The Horse, of-course.

Starting just north of the Surf Club in Lennox Head and running as far as the eye can see is the dog beach section of Seven Mile Beach. You can access it on foot or by car, and explore for hours. Such a stunning stretch of beach.

Such a great little store with scrumptious homemade eats and local goodies. Lots of fresh produce as well. We stopped in and grabbed some salads for a picnic lunch.

An incredible spot to sit for a picnic and do some whale watching, catch the sunset, watch the surfers, and just enjoy the panoramic ocean views.
