Hideaway Cabin by the River
Adventure in Aongatete, Bay of Plenty, NZ
They say life is what you make it, but it’s also about how you feel it. Arriving at Wainui River Glamping felt like hitting pause on the noise and turning up the volume on our soul. Welcomed by festoon lights strung between native trees, we lit the fire and prepared dinner in the well-equipped outdoor kitchen, enjoying steak and roasted vegetables cooked over the flames.
We spent the evening telling stories around the fire, then retreated to the cozy cabin, where the bed, with its heated blankets and comfy pillows, provided a perfect night's sleep. Morning brought coffee in the sun and a short walk to the river, where we kayaked up the Wainui River, basking in the sunshine and floating back with a beer in hand. After a delicious lunch at The Cider Factory, we enjoyed an afternoon surf at Waihi Beach.
Evening found us back at the campfire, Chris Stapleton playing on the Bluetooth speaker as we cooked dinner over the flames again. An outdoor bath with a nice red wine and a good book was the perfect end to the day. The next morning, after an invigorating outdoor shower and a final coffee, we reluctantly headed home.
This escape left us feeling rejuvenated and connected to nature. The simplicity of cooking over a fire, the peacefulness of the river, and the charm of the cozy cabin made it an unforgettable experience. It’s a reminder of how fulfilling it is to unplug and enjoy the natural world....
