Floating and Forests: A Tiny Adventure in the Yarra Valley
Adventure in Chum Creek, Yarra Valley, VIC, AU
Nestled in the rolling hills of the Yarra Valley, the Healesville Tiny House felt like a slice of heaven. It's a perfect balance of rustic charm and eco-luxury promising two nights of simplicity and serenity. This little retreat sat proudly on a 20-acre property and is totally off the grid. As we pulled off, we were greeted by kangaroos grazing near the property, ducks crossing the road and the golden glow of dusk spreading over the valley.
The tiny house itself was comfortable and well-designed - modest in size yet rich in detail - just enough to slow down and reconnect with nature. The queen bed invited us to sink into its comfort, a fully equipped kitchen to cook a feast and the solar-powered amenities reminded us of the importance of an eco-friendly lifestyle. Stepping outside, we found a cozy hammock swaying gently, a picnic table, an outdoor fireplace ready for the evening, and stunning views of the valley.
Over the weekend, we explored the surrounding areas of Healesville and the Yarra Valley. A short drive brought us to wineries such as Chandon where we sipped on sparkling wines. We also indulged in forest bathing at Warburton’s magnificent Redwood Forest. But the highlight of the weekend was a sunrise hot air balloon flight with Global Ballooning Australia. Floating silently above vineyards and the green valleys, we watched the world awaken beneath us. The Yarra Valley stretched in every direction, a patchwork of gold and green, with the mist still hugging the hills. It was a truly magical experience!
On the last morning, coffee in hand, we soaked up the last moments of stillness. This little escape reminded us of the simple joys of life — quiet mornings, breathtaking landscapes, and the thrill of rising above it all. A weekend here isn’t just a stay; it’s an immersion into the rhythm of the valley, where nature and adventure come together seamlessly. If you're looking for a place to relax and recharge near Melbourne, this is the place for you!
