A Cozy Hideaway Where Time Slows Down

We spent the weekend tucked away at The Duckling, and it honestly felt like pressing pause on life. Just a short drive from Daylesford, yet the moment we arrived, surrounded by gum trees swaying in the breeze, it felt like we were miles away from everything.

The cabin is small but perfectly designed – every corner holds a thoughtful detail. The black kitchen against warm yellow tones, antique touches, and charming barn doors that creak in the nicest rustic way. We made coffee, curled up by the fire, and let time slow down.

Best of all, The Duckling is pet-friendly, so Hunter and Khaleesi (our Akitas) joined the adventure. 🐾 With their own doggie door and fenced yard, they were just as relaxed as we were.

When the string lights came on and stars filled the sky, it turned magical – cozy, simple, and completely soul-soothing.

Tucked away in Glenlyon, Loddon Falls feels like one of those places you stumble upon and instantly want to keep as your little secret. The walk in is peaceful, with the sound of water getting louder until suddenly the view opens up to this dramatic wall of basalt columns and the falls crashing down into the swimming hole below.

We found the perfect spot to sit on the rocks, dangle our feet, and just take in the gorge stretching out ahead of us. Our dogs loved exploring the trail (and sniffing every single tree along the way 🐾), while we soaked up the kind of view that makes the whole walk worth it.

Loddon Falls isn’t polished or crowded — it’s raw, rugged, and absolutely stunning. A reminder that sometimes the best adventures are the ones a little off the beaten track. 🌿💦

After exploring The Amazing Mill Markets and getting lost among all the vintage treasures, we wandered over to The Mill Café & Larder for a bite — and wow, what a find. It’s such a cozy spot, loved by locals for good reason.

We went for their steak sanga and fritters, and honestly, it hit the spot perfectly — hearty, flavourful, and exactly what we needed after hours of browsing. The menu had so many tempting options (I’m still thinking about the panko-crusted eggs and yogurt panna cotta with rhubarb!), but that sanga? Chef’s kiss.

It’s one of those places that makes you slow down, sip your coffee a little longer, and just enjoy where you are. ✨☕

We spent the morning wandering through The Amazing Mill Markets in Daylesford — and honestly, it was like stepping into a giant treasure chest. Every corner had something that caught our eye — from retro clothes and quirky home decor to old records that brought back memories.

We didn’t plan to spend hours there, but time just slipped away as we rummaged through vintage finds and shared stories about things that reminded us of our childhood. There’s something really special about places like this — where every piece has its own story, and somehow, you end up creating new ones while you’re there.
