A Reflective Retreat
Adventure in Badger Creek, Yarra Valley, VIC, AU
This unique stay in the Yarra Valley is truly one of the most memorable and one-of-a-kind places I’ve experienced. Arriving at Australia’s first Mirror Home was exciting from the moment I stepped onto the property, and it quickly proved to be one of the most luxurious and comfortable stays I’ve had.
The home is nestled within Tara Rise Gardens, which were once part of Australia’s Open Garden Scheme. I loved wandering through the gardens via a path beside the property, including a beautiful rotunda overlooking the lake - the perfect spot to sit quietly and reflect. Inside the house, the large windows frame the surrounding landscape so you feel immersed in nature while still enjoying the comfort of indoors. From the outside, the mirrored exterior is just as impressive, reflecting the trees and greenery so seamlessly that the home almost disappears into its surroundings.
The large bathtub on the private deck was a highlight and the perfect setting for complete relaxation. Paired with the luxurious robe and slippers provided, I soaked in the tub as the sun set - absolute bliss. The deck was also the perfect space to roll out the yoga mat supplied and to enjoy a gentle stretch. The relaxation continued inside with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in (sleeping in was almost unavoidable) and a projector that made for the perfect cosy movie night! For those visiting in the cooler months, the outdoor firepit would make the place even cosier.
When I wasn’t enjoying the comforts of the Mirror Home, I spent time exploring the beautiful Yarra Valley. I wandered through Healesville just down the road, where I had a delicious coffee and lunch at Willow & Jackson, before heading off on some nature adventures at Maroondah Reservoir Park and Badger Weir - both wonderful places for a peaceful stroll and some truly stunning scenery.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Mirror Home to anyone looking for the perfect blend of nature and luxury. It’s the kind of place where you can truly switch off, unwind, and leave feeling completely relaxed and restored.
