The automatic gates swung open to our first surprise — a herd of lambs and sheep roaming freely across wide open meadowland, welcoming us in before we'd even parked. It instantly melted the city out of us. The property sits nestled off-grid among golden farmland, with a beautifully designed cabin and a separate A-frame lounge that together feel less like a rental and more like somewhere you've always wanted to live. We arrived to overcast skies and drizzle, and honestly, it only made things cosier.

Mornings needed no alarm. The sheep grazing just outside do that job far more gently. We'd cook a slow breakfast and stand at the floor-to-ceiling glass watching the Grampians Hills in the distance — unhurried, present, completely at peace.

As golden hour arrived, the solar fairy lights quietly came alive, the fire pit crackled, and we cooked together on the BBQ under open skies. The evening's highlight was setting up the projector beside the fire and watching a romantic movie wrapped up together — fairy lights glowing, flames flickering, just the two of us.

Nights in the loft bed felt like a warm hug. Climbing those stairs after a full evening outdoors, sinking into the soft, snug sheets with the quiet of the farmland wrapped around you — so naturally cosy and warm you never once reached for the heater. Just pure relaxation, complete stillness.

And leaving? That was the hardest part. The sheep gathered near the fence as we packed up, watching quietly — as if asking us to stay just a little longer.
