A Charming Cottage Retreat

One Wee Cottage is a truly unique and charming mud-brick retreat, tucked away in the Yarra Valley.

From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its character. Every corner of the cottage is thoughtfully decorated with treasures collected by the host, Angela, during her travels around the world. It's filled with beautiful, eclectic details that invite you to slow down, wander from room to room, and discover something new. Rather than feeling like a typical getaway, it feels as though you've been whisked away to a romantic little hideaway somewhere in the French countryside.

My stay was all about embracing the slower pace of life. I spent the afternoon enjoying a glass of wine and a grazing board on the verandah, surrounded by the scent of lavender and complete stillness. I curled up with a book in the cosy reading nook, relaxed beside the crackling fireplace, and finished the evening with a long, luxurious soak in the deep bath. I was also able to bring my canine friend, Daisy, along for the adventure, as the cottage is pet-friendly.

Being in the heart of wine country, I couldn't resist visiting Punt Road Wines for a tasting while soaking up the beautiful vineyard views. The wines were some of the best I've ever tasted. I also stopped by the nearby Beechworth Bakery for a treat before taking a peaceful stroll through Maroondah Reservoir Park, where I was lucky enough to spot a family of kangaroos.

One Wee Cottage is the perfect escape for anyone seeking peace, romance and a touch of magic. Whether you're planning a solo retreat or a getaway for two, it's a place that invites you to slow down, reconnect with nature, and savour life's simple pleasures.
