Cabin retreat for star gazers & dreamers

A woody aroma and a fire already going warmly greets us as we check in. We find ourselves surrounded by nature but at the same time immersed in complete comfort and understated luxury.

We observe the changing sky from inside - the lake in front of us reflects glistenings of sunlight dancing on its surface until the moon and stars take their turn. In the city we might catch a glimpse of the colours of a beautiful sunset - but here you can bask in all its full glory. We brew our tea and cook our favourite rustic meals on the very same iron stove that is keeping us warm. Dawn and dusk brings about a lovely birdsong, and it seems that the local wildlife come to pay a visit at the same time every day.

Each moment in the cabin was a delight, not only is it a custom-made unique architectural design, it inspired us to know it was self-built over three years! The charming features include: a ladder that leads to a nook, and another nook by the window, a stove that can cook and heat up the kettle, the camp side fire pit. We sleep upstairs in the curved roof loft looking up at the stars from our big comfy bed (after having the most satisfying hot shower in the unexpectedly beautiful bathroom!).

We are blown away by the thoughtfulness of everything provided - not only is it fully equipped with quality kitchenware and utensils, but I never how many pure woollen pillows, rugs and throws I needed... I'm secretly taking notes on the homewares I discovered here to buy for myself later...

Our stay here reminded me of a quote I once learned: “Dolce far niente”, an Italian phrase that means “the sweetness of doing nothing.” It feels soul nourishing to be able to take a step back here, and observe how beautiful living can be.

A clear view of the milkyway is visible with the naked eye, far away from any light pollution to interfere. Using a star gazing app helps you spot constellations and see our neighbouring planets! Bring a tripod and open up the lens for a 20-30 second long exposure, to capture the night sky like I did here.

At dawn and dusk, our local wildlife can be spotted on and around the property. Wallabies, kangaroos, wombats.. There's a beautiful hours walk you can do in the morning, or alternatively you can see them from your window

A delightful creperie full of locals on a weekday is always a good sign. The authentic crepes, charming provincial interior and the friendly waiters, with their charming French accents, transport us instantly to Paris.

One of the largest hedge mazes in Australia is right around the corner, very cool to explore!
