Cosy in Warburton
Adventure in Warburton, Yarra Valley, VIC, AU
What a luxury it was to begin the week in cosy, unique Warburton. Despite being only an hour from Melbourne, it genuinely felt worlds away from the big city – time slowed and gave way to the tranquillity of the lush surroundings. Six of us made our way to The Canvas Barn, where we spent two nights cooking, eating, drinking yummy wine, and playing board games. The outside area was equipped with everything we needed to prepare large communal feasts which we ate at the beautiful timber dining table under the fragrant grapevines.
A highlight was certainly spending an afternoon making pizza dough, on top of which we packed an abundance of locally-sourced produce – which even included herbs from Warburton’s thriving community garden. It was a rare pleasure to watch our pizza come to life in a beautiful outdoor oven in this warm cocoon, especially when the rain settled in and its sound on the roof soundtracked our evening.
When we weren’t keeping cosy in our little abode, we were out exploring what Warburton had to offer. We discovered beautiful local coffee shops and bakeries, vegetable and herb gardens, and Warburton’s renowned Redwood Forest. On a particularly muggy day, we even found the perfect swimming spot on the river, complete with picnic spots and a rope swing. Canvas Barn – and Warburton generally – was ideal for enjoying the company of the loved ones around me....
