Tiny Escape
Adventure in Gladysdale, Yarra Valley, VIC, AU
A mid-week escape to a tiny house is our favourite way to spend a school day!
Only an hour and 30 mins from Melbourne, this tiny home feels entirely off the grid! We were welcomed by our wonderful hosts and their cute farm animals. The donkeys and cows wander around the paddock next to the house and are very friendly, and can be patted at any time. This was the highlight of our stay!
The tiny house is beautiful and cosy, but not too tiny! There is plenty of space to hang out and cook. It's very close to shops, nice cafes, restaurants, and beautiful hiking spots, so we also managed to squeeze in a couple of walks.
After grabbing a few bakery snacks in Warburton, we followed the Yarra River walking trail that loops around the river thanks to the many swing bridges. After this super relaxed stroll, we wanted to check out La la falls, which is at its best after a rainy night and takes less than an hour to complete. The walk to the waterfall starts from the car park and follows an easy path through the lush forest.
After our hikes, it was finally time to check-in. We settled in, got comfortable and spent the rest of our day at the tiny house, reading in the sun and watching the animals walk around. Later in the afternoon, it started getting cold, so we sat around the fire pit and watched the sun go down behind the paddocks....
