Tiny House in a Big Forest

Victoria's forests have always been my favourite to explore, and heading to Warburton I knew we were up for only the best. We spent Friday night settling in to the Bedford and Breakfast Tiny House.  Saturday morning, we woke up to a thick sea of fog swimming amongst the giant ghost gum trees on the property, giving us our first taste of the fresh Warburton rainforest. We enjoyed making a delicious breakfast with the juiciest home grown fruit and fresh eggs provided by Barry and Christine, before heading out to explore our local surroundings.

By lunchtime we'd had an amazing wood fired oven pizza served by Little Joes, and were on our way up the winding roads to Mt Donna Buang. After checking out the view from the very top, we headed down into the Rainforest Gallery walk to soak in the lush greens and (we were hoping) maybe even spot an elusive lyrebird. The day was clear, so we seized the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful sunset by taking a recommendation from Christine, and headed to Seven Acre Rock, about a 40 minute drive from our accommodation.

After an easy 15 minute hike, we found ourselves on a top of a rocky natural viewing platform, with 180 degree views of the spectacular Yarra Ranges. We watched an incredible sun set with the view all to ourselves, our cameras and the birds, then set out for another recommendation from our hosts Chris and Barry- an Argentinian restaurant called The Independent in Gembrook. The food, wine and service was next to none and really closed our trip with a great sense of fulfilment along with some full bellies.

2km return hike that takes you to the top of a rocky cliff formation with a great view over the Yarra Ranges. This is best at sunset as the sun directly sets in front of you behind the mountains. Thanks for the recommendation Christine....
