Escape to FreeFall Hut, a fully equipped rustic, romantic cabin located on a life style block in Te Awanga. This is the ideal place to unwind, with an outdoor tub and shower to soak in, and prominent vineyards and beaches only a short bike ride away.

This cabin is a two-minute drive from Te Awanga beach and a short bike ride from world-class wineries like, Elephant Hill, and Clearview Estate Winery Hygge cafe by the sea to enjoy a great brunch or a cold beer, plus several other great coffee spots.

We have 2 coastal cruising bikes available for you to enjoy the bike trails.

The Cabin:
A spacious rustic timber and macrocarpa cabin with large french doors and a comfortable queen-sized bed.

Outdoor shower and bath (glamping style):
Relax under the stars in the outdoor bath. Or enjoy the sheltered shower with the shutter doors open to a view of the orchard.

Patio and BBQ:
Light the grill and enjoy the outdoor space. The patio has a comfortable large table and chairs. A webber BBQ is available for outdoor cooking or for making pizza.

Kitchen:
The kitchen has a small seating area for two, a toaster, a kettle, a microwave, a fridge, a small sink, and an electric cooking element. Enjoy breakfast with views over the orchard.

The shower, toilet, and kitchen are separate buildings located ten meters from the main sleeping cabin.

Basic provisions:
Plunger coffee, tea, and milk are provided. During the season enjoy fresh fruit for breakfast left by your host. Towels and basic hygiene amenities are provided.

With a local store down the road, a coffee cart selling artisan pastries, and a plethora of local wineries at your fingertips serving brunch, lunch, and dinner, you can choose to explore the area for your kai or make something at home.

A short drive away is the Cape Kidnappers golf course, the Cape Kidnappers gannets colony, and stunning local swimming and surf beaches such as Ocean Beach and Waimarama Beach.

The cabin is completely separate from our home and orchard store. Nestled in its own private area the cabin has its own facilities with none shared. Key collection and check-in are contactless, allowing you to check into the hut yourselves.

Orchard noise:
Please note the accommodation is located on a working orchard so some noise from orchard tractors frost windmills and cars down the driveway are expected during the cropping season November-January.

Animals on property:
Free Fall Hut occasionally has some cute cows hanging around and if you look closely, you may spot alpacas in the neighboring paddocks. We also have horses.

Cosy, simple, and so well thought out! FreeFall Hut is a rustic cabin tucked on a sunny berry farm, the bed was comfortable, the little kitchen had everything we needed, and waking up to birdsong with... orchard views through the French doors was a pretty perfect start to the day.

The outdoor bath was a real highlight. Soaking under the stars as it got dark, hot water, total quiet, I was completely unwilling to get out. The outdoor shower had great pressure and stayed steaming hot, and the little BBQ and seating area outside made for easy, relaxed evenings.

The beach is a short drive away and world-class wineries and cafés are right on your doorstep, Te Awanga Estate, Elephant Hill, Clearview. Easy to fill your days or do absolutely nothing at all.

A beautiful, simple escape and exactly what it promises to be!

Great rural location only minutes from everything. Accommodations are comfortable, well consider and just right for a relaxed romantic break. Loved the outdoor bath and the personal touches - flowers in the rooms, homemade jam, lemons off the tree and bunnies on the lawn. Thanks for a great stay

Haumoana Farmyard Zoo

Haumoana Farmyard Zoo is a lovely little stop for something different while exploring the area. Wander through and meet the animals, then head out on one of the horse treks offered on the property. One of the best parts is that you can spot the horses grazing in the paddocks right beside your hut, making the countryside feel even closer. It’s a peaceful way to spend a couple of hours and enjoy a taste of rural Hawke’s Bay without having to venture far from your stay.

Coffee On The Coast

Grab a takeaway coffee from Brown Dog in Haumoana and head down to the beach for a wander. It’s a simple way to start the day, with the coastline stretching out beside you and plenty of fresh sea air. Take your time exploring the beach, watching the waves and enjoying the relaxed pace of this little coastal town.
