Rustic Charm at Nhillbilly Farm

The Nhillbilly Farm is a 100-acre plot of trees 10km from Nhill. As we drove into the property on our first night, we immediately felt at peace. Among the stars, we found a glamping tent lit up from the inside, our cozy home for the weekend. It was warm inside the tent, thanks to a heater that Sharon had set up before we arrived.

A converted horse stable served as the outdoor bathroom, located just a 3-minute stroll from the tent. There was plenty of hot water to enjoy an outdoor shower and bath.

Every day began with a breathtaking sunrise over the gumtrees. Sharon brought us a delicious breakfast to start each day. This is the place to be if you love to spend time with your host. Sharon's stories could have kept us talking and listening for hours on end. As well as feeding her horses, we got to spend time gathering firewood and exploring her property with her.

The evening was spent by the fire, where Lofty arrived with firewood to last the whole night, accompanied by two adorable dogs. A delicious wood-fired pizza was served by Sharon. Locals raved about the pizza, and it really was worth the hype.

Our stay was filled with adventures: getting caught in the rain at the beautiful Pink Lake, seeing a new addition to the Silo Art Trail, discovering a local Imaginarium, and exploring Little Desert National Park.

As avid climbers, we were also especially delighted to squeeze in bouldering sessions at the Arapiles National Park.

Artist, Sam Bates, known as Smug, created this stunning homage to the Arkona tennis legend, Roley Klinge. While we were there, we bumped into a local who know Roley in real life!

As we headed to the Arapiles, we drove through the beautiful Little Desert National Park. From the road, we were able to enjoy the landscape and diverse flora and fauna. We would love to go back for a hike, walk or camp one day!
A spectacular feature that never fails to astound us every time we get near it, Mount Arapiles rises sharply from the Wimmera plains. It’s a beauty.

The climbs at Arapiles are of incredible quality for climbers at all levels. A few parts have been closed for cultural heritage reasons. Be sure to research before packing your gear!
