Idyllic Farm Retreat on the River

Want to escape to a 250-acre farm on the beautiful Wimmera River? Well that's exactly what you get with The Shack. Although it's only 10 minutes from the township of Horsham, it's perfect for those looking for some peace and tranquillity. And importantly for us, doing that with our dogs!

On the property you will find the Wimmera River, cows in the paddocks and a fire pit that's perfect for an afternoon sit-around until the stars fill the night sky. The friendly Jersey cows, the cheeky ponies and the chickens that gave us fresh eggs were all part of the wonderful experience here! But watching a Highland calf, named Hamish, be born was the highlight of our stay.

Be sure to also check out the Framing the Wimmera - one of which features the River....

The National Heritage Listed Murtoa Stick Shed was built as an emergency grain store built during World War Two. Referred to ‘Cathedral of the Wimmera’ it's unmilled tall timber poles and history created a fascinating place to visit. And it's a dog-friendly attraction....
