If you dream of leaving the modern world behind and immersing yourself in the great outdoors, then a stay at The Willows could be just the ticket.
Located near Anglers Rest in the remote and ruggedly beautiful Bundarra Valley, The Willows is an authentic working horse property offering homely accommodation and warm hospitality. An hour or so from Dinner Plain/Mount Hotham and a stone’s throw from the Bundarra, Mitta Mitta, and Cobungra Rivers, it’s an ideal base to explore the region’s fantastic cycling, mountain biking, bushwalking, skiing, seasonal white water rafting & fly fishing. And when you come home, you can enjoy a hot shower, tasty meal, and campfire under a blanket of a million stars in one of The Willow’s High Country huts or our Guest House.
The Iron Hut is a comfortable and rustic cabin with a wood burning fire. We're near the Alpine National Park in a ruggedly beautiful part of the High Country. Our remoteness means we rely on solar so mobile reception is zero or patchy, ideal for a "digital detox". But with outdoor opportunities galore, you'll want to ditch your phone and immerse yourself in nature.

Additional Information
IRON HUT DETAILS
The Iron Hut features a simple kitchen and cosy living area, 1 double bed, 1 single bed, 1 bathroom and an outdoor toilet. It is a one roomed hut.Deck on front overlooks dam and paddocks beyond.
There's an internal wood fired heater and an outside camp fire area to use.
The Hut has a gas fired fridge and hot water system. It sometimes takes a little time for the fridge to get really cool so guests who've stayed with us before often bring up an Esky for back-up.
GUEST ACCESS
The Iron Hut is located just down the hill from the main house where we live. We have a beautiful garden, veggie patch, campfire area, BBQ, washing line and big verandah (perfect for evening beers) at the main house — all of which you're welcome to access and enjoy. However, you also have access to a BBQ/campfire area next to the Iron Hut and you're also a stones throw from the river so be sure to bring your bathers(in summer).
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
Being a working horse property, we have mates and guests coming and going all the time at the main house. We might be having a cup of tea in the main house kitchen, a yarn around the fire, sizzling steaks on the BBQ or sipping beer on the verandah. And you'd be welcome to join us at anytime. The Iron Hut is quite separate from the main house and has its own private deck, so if you want to chill out on your own that's totally fine too. We'll respect your space. Just know that you can always knock on our door if you need anything or want to hang out.
PLEASE NOTE
We have a number of animals on the property. We have a two friendly dogs (George and Jack) who loll about the main house. We've got a small flock of guinea fowl that like to nosey around outside the main house and occasionally the guesthouse, and we've got a mob of horses that live in the paddocks nearby. We've also got some lovely wildlife, big eastern grey kangaroos, on the doorstep too. So, if you love animals and enjoy nature you're going to like staying with us.
Smoking is only allowed outside the hut and cigarettes must be safely extinguished in an ash tray.
Dogs are allow provided they are well-trained and kept under control around the property.

Trout Hunting And Exporing
On the property runs a beautiful creek with the purest water I've ever tasted! And the trout loved it too. Was kicking myself I didn't have a rod with me cos you could see the trout swimming in the stream! Beautiful spot to explore, find heart space rocks with mountain views!
Campfire Cooking
Had flour, water, salt and baking powder to create damper on the campfire. So thats exactly what I did. You can wrap the dough around a stick and cook on the campfire although I prefer the oven method, which I didn't have a camp oven but I made one! Wrapped a pot I found in foil so the camp fire wouldn't damage the pot and created a fire. Made a stick stand for the pot to sit on and a few coals underneath. You need space around the dough and bottom of your oven so the heat can create a circular heating motion. Try not to peek too much on it as the heat will then escape. Try smelling for its readiness! I sat on the verandah over looking the mountain hill with a cuppa tea and thick butter on my warm, baked dough! Delish!
