Welcome to Little Hallands, Lyonville!

The house is pretty straightforward but there are a few things to know.

Bathroom - the house is connected to a septic tank so please do not put sanitary items / baby wipes etc down the toilet. There is a bin next to the toilet for these - please empty when you leave. Toilet paper is fine!! : )

Water System - hot water comes on automatically after 10secs of running it - but beware it can come on pretty hot.

Heating / Cooling - Lyonville can get VERY cold in winter. There are two wood fires in the house. There is kindling and wood by the fires or it can be found in the woodshed out the back to the left of the kitchen (no wood provided during spring and summer - September - May). To light the fires the best system is to create a T-Pee style pile of kindling and light with the firelighters. Each fire has a little vent under its door. If you open up the vent by sliding the holes open this fuels the fire. Once the kindling is going add the larger log(s) then once this is going turn the vent holes to half or less. Each fire also has a fan. There are knobs / dials on the lower right side of them. You have to turn these clockwise - they will turn the other way but can break. The fan has various speed settings. It does push the heat more into the room but only really when the fires are well established. If you run out of kindling you can buy more at the IGA in Trentham or Mitre 10 / the petrol station as you enter Daylesford. In the kitchen is a split air con system - feel free to use this - especially in the mornings if the fires have gone out over night! Or for cooling! There are also two portable heaters in the front bedrooms and a small heating fan in the bedroom off the lounge. Please remember to switch these off if you go out / when you leave.

Kitchen - help yourselves to any staples in the pantry but kindly replace anything you completely use up.
If the cooker's power is off you will see a switch on the wall up and to the left of it - you will need to switch this on.

Lounge - TV - remote should be near it. It is a smart TV with all the apps but you will need to log in to your streaming accts - remember to log out when leaving. "Live TV "has all the free broadcast and digital channels. There are lots of DVDs – use the Sony Stereo to play them – choose AV on the TV through the source button the remote. When playing DVDs the volume is controlled by the Sony stereo / remote.
The stereo is self-explanatory for DVDs / CDs and you can also bluetooth your own music to it from your own device - there is an instruction manual up by it.

Smoking - no smoking inside the house - please do so outside and get rid of butts.

Outside - There are outside lights on the back porch - switch just inside kitchen door and there is festoon lighting around the car port with the table - switch inside the shed. Just be aware you don't switch anything else on / off in the shed as some of the switches near the lights also operate the water pump etc. There are two fire tubs – please please do NOT use these during Fire Ban days. When using them on other days please be mindful of their position – be clear of deck / furniture etc and do not leave them on when going to bed.

There is limited mobile / 4g phone reception - Telstra is good but Optus and other providers are nearly non-existent. You might find some in the garden or by the pub.

Leaving:
Please make sure the back door is locked and bolted
Please make sure aircon unit in kitchen is off
Please make sure the portable heaters in the bedrooms are switched off
Please make sure the front door is shut properly (it needs to be pulled quite hard)
Please put keys back in lock box
Please put your rubbish in bins outside (red – general / yellow – recycling) and place bins for collection on other side of road by mail box.

On Sundays the Lyonville Hall Café runs from 10-1pm. Coffee, tea and homemade cakes and goods.

Daylesford is 10 mins drive - go to the bottom of Main Street to the main road and turn left.

And of course, there are plenty of local spa treatments and centres in Daylesford and Hepburn.
