Edna’s is a place to slow down.
A mid-century inspired retreat designed for slower stays, comfort and ease. Settle in for a few days or longer, with space to unwind and a relaxed 11am checkout. Mornings drift into coffee on the deck, afternoons into town — just a three-block walk to Daylesford’s main street.
The original 1950s home of locals Edna and Jack Grant and their five boys — with town views and a large, established garden full of nooks and crannies. Something is always in bloom at Edna’s.

With over 190 five-star reviews on another leading platform, Edna’s has been a much-loved stay for many years and is now welcoming Riparide guests.

A short three-block walk brings you into the heart of Daylesford — cafes, restaurants and local shops — though you may find it just as easy to stay in.

Mornings begin slowly. Coffee on the deck, looking out across the easterly views of town, often shared with resident magpies Marion and Morrissey.

Inside, the home is filled with natural light. In winter, the northerly sun spills through the sliding doors, creating a warm and relaxed living space.

The house is designed for both gathering and quiet moments.

A dining table with six restored original Casala chairs invites long meals and conversation. The lounge offers a comfortable place to settle in, with Netflix and Max, two armchairs with views, and a collection of 200+ books and games.

For those feeling active, Daylesford’s renowned grass tennis courts are just 200 metres away (October to April).

The kitchen is fully equipped for longer stays, with everything needed for cooking at home, along with a well-stocked coffee station.

The home accommodates up to eight guests across:

Two queen bedrooms
One king bedroom
A study / fourth bedroom with flexible bedding

All bedrooms feature quality linen, generous storage, and new split system heating and cooling. A discreet but highly effective gas heater adds additional warmth in cooler months.

The study offers a quiet workspace with views towards Wombat Hill — ideal for reading, writing, or remote work.

Evenings are best taken slowly. Light a few candles, run a bath with Epsom salts, and look out through the large picture window to the night sky.

The garden provides privacy and space to unwind, though please note it is not fully fenced at the front. Well-behaved dogs (up to 15kg) are welcome.

For those looking to stay a little longer, feel free to enquire about extended stays.

Hi I'm Matt and I am privileged to be only the second owner of "Edna's." The original home of Jack and Edna Grant from the 1960s where they raised their five boys. Jack and Edna ran the local nursery for many years. It shows in the wonderful private mature garden they have planted. Its a major reason I fell in love with the place back in 2018 and took on the challenge of restoring it. I hope you enjoy the views, quiet and the morning bird chorus as much as i do.
