A nature lovers paradise perfect for couples, families or a group getaway. Mountain bikers, Hiking Groups & Birdwatchers will love this place. Kangarutha Farm (100HA) is a hidden treasure, close to Tathra (1.6 km). There are several km's of trails on the property with wildlife including kangaroos, gliders, possums, eagles, and over 100 bird species. The property borders Bournda NP and trails lead to the "Kangarutha Coastal Walk". The Kalaru to Tathra bike path passes the property gate.

The space

'Kangarutha Cottage' is a well-loved destination on a unique rural property of 100 Ha.
The character retro cottage is nestled on the fringe of tall coastal forest and has been in the Hamilton family for 50 years. It has evolved over time which gives it a cosy but unconventional feel. The Cottage is situated only 150m from the main road but is hidden, with easy access and a wonderful rural view of paddocks, dams and forest.

The property comprises 2 buildings. The main cottage and an adjacent 'Lodge' which are surrounded with a fully fenced private yard and tennis court. The gardens are tranquil, a beautiful place to relax in nature whilst being close to the beach and other attractions around Tathra and the region.

The property sleeps a total of 8 people with 6 beds

The main cottage is cosy with 2 bedrooms - a queen bed in the large bedroom and two single beds (or combined to a King bed). The kitchen, lounge room and dining area are the open plan hub of the house with a cosy wood fire for cooler months and an optional reverse cycle air conditioner. The bathroom has a bath/ shower, with a separate toilet.
The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, Stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, jug, toaster. The cottage has full laundry faciities.

The adjacent 'Lodge' consists of a queen bedroom and attached bathroom with shower and toilet and a rumpus/ sitting room. The second bedroom in the lodge has 2x long king single beds (or king bed).

Guest access
Guests are welcome to walk the trails, or ride a mountain bike and we also welcome up to 2 dogs and horses (strict numbers and rules apply to horse Agistment ). We will supply a species guide to birds, animals and plants on our property and a map of our private trails and unmarked NP trails. Guests have complete use of the cottage and its fenced environs.
Kangarutha Farm also hosts a small number of special, private campsites , especially during holiday periods. Access for these goes past the cottage and the sites are not situated within site or sound of the cottage.
further along the road the site of our previous award winning garden centre is being developed into an event and function space.

Tathra has a great little supermarket, butcher, Hotel, chemist, doctor, clubs, cafes, and one of the Best Beaches on the South Coast and of course the famous Tathra Wharf, the last of its kind on the East Coast of Australia

In my spare time I like to walk in the local bush, catch up with my friends at Bookclub and coffee. I ride horses and have done all my life, purely for pleasure. I love our local bush, coastline and our small property where we live just out of town. My grandchildren are very important to me and I love to spend time with them. My husband Bruce and I love to escape and camp both nearby and other parts of our wonderful country. We also own a wonderful property in the snowy mountains and love to spend time in our mountain hut. I am committed to making our properties at 'Clifftop' in Tathra and 'Kangarutha Farm Cottage' near Tathra the best that I can, where our guests can relax, unwind and enjoy their choice of either unique location.
