Experience the comfort and beauty of am architecturally designed hempcrete passive house, with 16 beds, on a 10 acre permaculture homestead with swimmable dam, indoor & outdoor fire bath, seasonal creek, abundant wildlife and 50 acres of neighbouring forest to explore by foot or by bike. Just 5 mins from the eclectic and creative town of Castlemaine.
Our home is a large, modern, beautiful, eco-friendly house made of hempcrete and other healthy, natural materials like timber, straw, stone and clay.
The whole house is wheelchair and pram accessible, suitable for all ages and abilities.
The house has been built to passive house standards to achieve maximum energy efficiency. It means the house is a comfortable temperature all year round: delightfully cosy in winter and cool in summer. We have a central A/C for heating and cooling, but you'll barely need it.
All natural materials and expansive views give the house a calm, soothing feel. You'll certainly feel like you're on holiday.
The house facilities including an open plan living & dining area, and kids play area. The large commercial kitchen has two ovens, induction stove, fridge, freezer, kettle, microwave, toaster, rice cooker, stick blender and baking equipment.
Two bathrooms, two toilets and a separated vanity area with double sinks and washing machine means very few bathroom bottlenecks. The indoor bath fits two and has a lovely view. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided. One toilet is an indoor flushing toilet while the other is an outdoor compost toilet.
All rooms are furnished with beds, bed linen, towels and clothes storage. There are enough beds to sleep up to 26 people. This includes 1 x king bed, 2 x queen beds, 4 x double beds, and 6 x single beds. The main L shaped living room sofa can also be pushed together to form a double sofa bed. The sofa and living room drawers store extra doonas, sheets and pillows.
Children and pets are welcome. We have an indoor play area and outdoor swing-set, trampoline and sandpit. Pets are welcome inside but will need to stay on the floor (not on furniture or beds).
The dam has clean fresh water and is available for swimming, kayaking or fishing. We have a body board available for you to use. We also have an outdoor fire bath.
There are several fireplaces on the property for outdoor woodfire BBQs, one at the front porch outdoor dining area, and one up on the dam wall with a 'lakeside' view. You will need to provide your own firewood. There is no gas BBQ.

RUBBISH
We understand that our house is frequently used for larger groups. However, our council does not provide sufficient waste disposal to accommodate large amounts of waste every weekend. It is not reasonable for us to have to pay additional fees and spend additional time taking your excessive rubbish to the tip.
It is also important for the caretakers who live here during the week to also have some space in the bin for their own rubbish. Recycling bins are only emptied fortnightly, so if you fill the recycling bin, the next weekend's guests will not have space for their recycling.
So please consider others, and If your rubbish fills more than 3/4 of one wheelie bin, then it is excessive, and we will need you to take it home.

- No smoking within 25 metres of any dwelling
- No pets on furniture
- Biodegradable cleaning and hygiene products only please, we have a septic system
